I was very satisfied with our tour with Adventures in Paradise. The guides Kara and Evan were friendly, very helpful and knowledgable. They were always focused on our comfort and safety and were prepared to meet our needs. The snacks were tasty too. I was also impressed with their concern about having low impact on the nature and animals of the cove but yet still providing a fun tour. They were much more stewards of the environment than the other tour guides and boat operators. It's a smart thing to do since the aquatic life there is the entire reason everybody goes to snorkel there.
My only criticism is that I wish the tour was a little longer. I would have liked to have a bit more time to snorkel. On the other hand, the area became a bit crowded with other tour boats and snorkelers so I don't know if more snorkeling time would have made a difference. The Cooks Monument cove is getting very popular so if you want a quiet tour with only a small group sharing the experience than this tour may not be for you. This is by no means a reflection on Adventures in Paradise they did the best they could to start us early and keep us out of the crowds. |

I did the same tour last year with a different group of friends. We all enjoyed it so much that I did a repeat trip this year. They are very well organized, only give you as much help as you need and want. We had plenty of time to explore individually. Our guide, Roy, was very familiar with the water and different fish, and also the local history. He recommended several good places to go on our own during the following week. They provided good, healthy snacks before we paddled back. This was a good start to our vacation and I would do it again. |

We will be coming back to the Big Island in 3 years and we will definitely go again with Adventures in Paradise for our snorkeling trip. They were great guides and they patiently answered all my 6-year-old's questions. The snorkeling was beautiful, and so was the kayak ride where we saw lots and lots of spinner dolphins. Thank you very much for such a wonderful experience. |

This was a great activity for a family with teenagers. The snorkeling was incredible - some of the best on the Big Island - and Kathy, Keira, and Ryan made us feel like we were part of the family. Mahalo.
If you go soon, wish Keira goodluck in the Kona marathon. |

This trip was so much fun. I appreciated the snacks which were diverse and the great coffee (Thanks Roy!) The snorkeling was in pristine water, and the kayaking was so fun. The guides were very knowledgeable about the area and seemed to manage one on one time with each group. I would recommend bringiing a warm layer for snorkeling as I could not spend the maximum amount of time I would have liked in the water due to being cold. I wish all the companines had to use non motorized transportation to get to this area. Once the huge motorized boats appeared (around 10am) the setting lost some of its ambiance. The kayaking was not strenuous and this is one of the only companies allowed to beach their kayaks due to a permanant permit.
Overall a great experience! |

Roy was our guide and was full of stories of the bay, both recent and historical. And, important for us neophytes, he has decades of experience on the water and knew how to handle our group safely. The early departure took some work getting up early and was a full hour drive from Naalehu, but was well worth getting out on the bay before the hordes of tour boats arrived.
We also had fun with an underwater single-use camera we bought for the trip. Pictures of the divers came out better than pictures of the fish, though. Its hard to hold the camera steady underwater holding your breath and the fish are pretty small for a wide angle shot. |
