went for 4 hour kayak and snorkel tour with adventures in paradise. Roy was our guide and he was fantastic. He took great care of us. We were provided wet suits which allowed us to stay in the water as long as we wanted and gave fantastic recount of the history of the area as well as info on the fish and wildlife. We did not see dolphins but they gave us info and even drew us maps of other bays the dolphins visit and we did see them at one of these. Great guys. Great trip! Don't miss. |

Captain Cook Monument:
Snorkel views:
The coral and rock formation extends about 30-40 yds. on each side of the monument. From the shore, it extends out about 15-20 yrds, and then there is a deep drop off. The dept at concrete wall in front of the monument is about 5 ft deep and gradually goes to about 20 ft at which point the floor descends very sharply. Good for beginners because you don't have to venture far to see excellent rock formation, coral, and lots of fish. The water is very clear with lots of coral and interesting rock formations. Even at depths of only a few inches at the shoreline, there were places were hundreds of yellow tangs had gather.
Adventure in Paradise Kayak tour.
Highly recommended, They furnish everything, including a light lunch, hot coffee or chocolate. Go on the early trip and enjoy the bay before the other large tour boats show up but this does mean waking up super early to get there by 7:00 am. You meet at the rental site, just off the main highway. They take you and the kayaks down to the launch off point, and do all the work for you. It's about a 20-25 minutes paddle across the bay. One of the only ones licensed to land at Captain Cook monument. They have an approved area to land the kayak at the monument. From there, it is about a 5 minute walk to the monument. You have about 2 hrs of snorkeling at the site. Roy and Joy were great guides for the kayak trip across the bay and attending to our need and safety.
Note: You leave your car at the Kayak rental, so your valuables can be left in the car, and they will provide a lock
box for your keys, etc. |

Great adventure, we even saw Manta Rays which was apparently rare, gorgeous reef with tons of fish. Would do it again. |

My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed the kayak and snorkeling tour! The people running the business and the guides are all friendly, competent, and lots of fun! We really enjoyed kayaking across the bay to the Captain Cook Monument in the tandem kayak, and our guides provided lots of information on the history of the monument and also Hawaiian culture, heritage, and history. It was fascinating and educational, as well as fun! The snorkeling at the large and beautiful coral reef was awesome! We had not snorkelled before, but were able to get into it immediately. The other people on our tour were also a lot of fun and seemed to be enjoying it as much as we were. I highly recommend this activity! |

The guide was very knowledgeable about the area, providing an interesting historical narrative during the trip, and was very helpful getting everyone launched in their kayak, and landed at the monument. We got there early, before anyone else was there, and he suggested some places to check out before the area got crowded. The snorkeling was fantastic, and the kayak trip was fun as well. We snorkeled at some other locations on the island, but none compared to this. |

From start to finsh, this tour met all of our expectations. We were greeted by the owner who offered us fresh baked goods and local Kona coffee. Along the trip we were given a history lesson about the area. We even saw dolphins while we were kayaking across the bay towards the monument. Snorkeling was amazing. Our guides, Roy and Joy had thought of everything. Relaxing on the shore, while taking a break from snorkeling, Roy and Joy offered us so many treats and goodies to refuel. Excellent trip all around! |

We had been told that the snorkeling at the Captain Cook monument was great and we enjoy kayaking together. So we thought this was the perfect thing for us. We were glad we had taken a tour, rather than doing our own thing as usual, because our guide was interesting and informative. Also, though we understood the importance of being careful not to damage the fish or coral, we didn't realize HOW fragile things were and were glad to be made more aware of how careful we needed to be...if we want others to enjoy it too.
As for the kayaking, it was a delightful way to begin and end the outing. I would definitely recommend the trip! |

Having never kayaked or snorkeled before, I was a little nervous about this tour when my family suggested it. The guides were extremely helpful in explaining every aspect required. Their knowledge of the area is evident and they pointed out various plants, etc. I would recommend this tour for all ages (our extended group included ages from 12 to 64), and all experience levels. |

We loved this tour! The bay is beautiful. Karen and Kira were helpful, knowledgeable, kind and obviously cared about preserving and protecting the bay as well as making it a safe and enjoyable trip for all. I loved being the first group at the monument particularly after it became somewhat crowded later. The snacks were plentiful and very good. (great scones!) We would love to go again. |

I was leery of Adventures in Paradise as they advertised themselves as the lowest priced outfit around. However, I found the guides (Ryan and Kira) to be knowledgable, friendly, helpful, and very comitted to preserving the natural environment. We were lucky enough to encouter a sun bathing Monk Seal and Kira stayed behind to make sure that no other groups disturbed it until DNR could arrive.
The gear was great, the kayaking easy and enjoyable, and the snorkling was the best I have ever experienced. The early start was not a problem and payed off as we had the bay to ourselves before the party boats arrived from Kona.
I recommend Adventures in Paradise without reservation. It is a bargain at any price. |

I started out as a tad skeptical for any tour. Ryan and Kira our guides dispelled that quick. The kayaking was fun and easy. A family with 2 young boys (8 & 10) in the group found it enjoyable. The information was spot on. We were blessed with a visit from a monk seal - very rare sea mammal! Excellent array of tropical fish, eels and bright corral. On the paddle back some spinner dolphins gave us a show. Highlight of our trip. |

Me, my husband and our 6 yr old daughter had an amazing time! Our guides Roy and Joy were awesome! Our daughter was Leary about snorkeling... Jumped in and jumped out... Roy sat with her while my husband and I snorkeled and then Joy convinced her to get jn with her and took her around snorkeling! They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip!
Great little history lesson as well.
Kayaking was nice and calm and great snorkeling!

Our guide, Ryan, was so nice! He gave us a history about Captain Cook, the monument and the surrounding land of the ancient Hawaii beliefs. He worked so hard to make our kayak and snorkel experience the Best! The snacks were SOOO GOOD! They had plenty of water for us too! They thought about it all!!! It was an experience of a lifetime for my husband and I! |
