Great guides and no crowds

Taking the kayaks was a great way to get to Captain Cook's monument, and it meant we arrived before the other big boat tours. Double kayaks made it kid-friendly. There was lots of time to appreciate the coral, see the fish, and even an octopus. A school of dolphins came in just as we were leaving, adding an additional touch to the morning. The guides were knowledgeable and interesting, and everything was well organized. Highly recommended.

This tour gives you two adventures for the price of one - kayaking and snorkel. And they provide everything, shoes, snorkel gear, a duffel for storage, and a bountiful midday snack. Delicious! The guides allow you to go at your own pace. This makes the experience relaxing and enjoyable. I would HIGHLY recommend it.

This company provided a great guided kayak tour to the Captain Cook monument for my daughter and myself. We both have some experience with kayaks, not so much ocean kayaking. We were a bit nervous at the start, the sea was rough where we launched. Our guide and the tour operator instructed us on how we would wait for the right moment and of course we were able to launch without a hitch. Paddling across the bay was easy, the kayaks the company uses are very stable. As we came in for landing, the guide instructed us on what we needed to do and helped us land the kayak. At the monument we were provided an interesting history of the area and what transpired. We then went snorkeling and had more than enough time to snorkel and swim. Our party was at the monument before the other tours arrived and we were able to enjoy the waters for a time without being disturbed. On the way back the sea again was rough. The guide instructed us on what we needed to do and coming back into the landing was easy. For inexperienced and intermediate kayakers, I highly recommend this company. I had been to this site to kayak before with friends and swore I would never come back, because of the launching and landing. Both the guide and the tour operator provided us with enough assurances and instructions that made it all seem easy and effortless. Mahalo, we had a great time!

Highlight of our vacation.

The Kayak trip to the Captain Cook monument was spectacular! The Kayak trip to the monument was an easy 30 minute trip. It was only the second time I'd kayaked. Our guide Ryan was very informative giving us tons of historical information about the monument and the Island in general. Once we arrived at the monument Ryan again ensured that those of us with less snorkeling experience felt very comfortable and safe. The water and the fish here are incredible, it's so calm and clear it's absolutely amazing! The Kayak trip back was just as much fun with visits and a jumping/spinning show performed by the local resident dolphins. This was a truly wonderful activity, we will be doing it again with Adventures in Paradise on our return to the big island. This company is well prepared, knowledgeable, and very attentive to their clients. Thanks for a wonderful adventure!

Like Snorkeling in an aquarium!

We took the early, 7 am, tour because we read that the bay is calmer, the chance of seeing spinner dolphins is better, and the tour boats aren't in the bay that early. After checking in, getting our gear, heading down to the launch area, the kayaks were unloaded by our guides (they worked really hard). We kayaked across the bay to the Captain Cook Monument. We were given the history of the area while we were kayaking. Once we reached our destination, our guides helped us out of our kayaks, carried the kayaks onshore, and took us to our picnic spot. The guides instructed us how to "jump" in the water without standing on the coral. The coral, many varieties of fish and urchins was amazing. The water was crystal clear. The picnic area was set up by our guides with water, coffee, and snacks and we were encouraged to help ourselves whenever we wanted to take a break. After about two hours of snorkeling, we headed back to our kayaks and crossed the bay back to the launch site. The guides were very helpful making sure everyone was helped out of the kayak safely! The guides again loaded all the kayaks and took us back to their store to our cars. The gear was in great condition, the guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Their love for this bay and it's history and living waters is very evident. I would highly recommend taking this kayak/snorkel tour. There is no better way to see the area! This is the most reputable company with experienced guides that we encountered.

We had a great Kayak trip! We got to see spinner dolphins and lots of cool fish. Our guides Roy and Joy were a great team. We learned all sorts of interesting facts about Captain Cook and the Big Island of Hawai'i. We recommend this tour!! (family of 4 kids ages 9 and 11)

My husband and I were on the Big Island to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and we wanted to snorkel and kayaking to this location seemed to boost the whole experience even more. It was a beautiful day and our guides were full of great knowledge of the area's history as well as information on kayaking and what we might see snorkeling as well as what to be careful about when snorkeling. I loved that they were respectful of the environment. What was also great was they were guiding us to be mindful without being heavy handed about it. I was a little nervous( I'm not a great swimmer) but I felt confident with their guidance and equipment and I never felt so comfortable snorkeling. I also loved that they were tandem kayaks, very stable and it was so fun kayaking with my husband. The early hour is a real advantage to snorkeling there because it is very popular and gets very busy as the day gets later. Thank you for an incredible activity on our vacation! Sheryl and Kim Ptak

This was a great activity for a family with teenagers. The snorkeling was incredible - some of the best on the Big Island - and Kathy, Keira, and Ryan made us feel like we were part of the family. Mahalo. If you go soon, wish Keira goodluck in the Kona marathon.

My husband and I are from Colorado and were enjoying a vacation to the Big Island. Neither of us are kayakers or frankly strong swimmers so we were a bit apprehensive about taking such a tour but wanted to experience the beautiful Kealakekua Bay. We are go glad that we decided to book this tour. On that particular day, there was only one other couple on the tour and Tyson, our guide, made us feel very comfortable and was able to give us all the specific attention we may have needed. Tyson was a great guide and shared with enthusiasm his love of the beauty and history of the area. We started out early in the morning, which made it particularly enjoyable because there were very few others out in the Bay when we arrived. This tour was 4 hours and for my husband and I, that turned out to be the perfect length of time. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to everyone, but particularly those who may be a bit nervous about going out on the ocean for the first time. The bay was beautiful and the experience was one of the hi-lites of our trip.

I booked this because I didn't want to take my chances kayaking and snorkeling when I didn't know where I was going or what to do. It was fun - not too big of a group and at least we weren't on our own. We did figure out later that you can snorkel from the little beach in front of the King Kam. Not quite as good as Captain Cook, but a lot cheaper (5$ to rent snorkel gear from the Kona Boys shack). My husband said if he had known that he wouldn't have done the tour. It think I still would have, but it's good to know that there are easy places to snorkel if you want to go on your own!

Great way to see Captain Cook area. Our guides were wonderful and very knowledgeable. We saw beautiful fish and had great snacks. Just wish we would have seen some dolphin.
