Great leaders, private, small group, avoided crowd
Fri, Apr 22, 11   7:30 AM kimbutler Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We took our 2 kids on the kayak snorkel trip 4.22.11 and really enjoyed it. 9 year old and 11 year old each in a tandem kayak with adult. 2 others in our group, with 2 leaders. We realized the early start was worth it when we'd been snorkeling at the monument for an hour or so, and several boats, including the huge Fairwinds pulled up and over 50 other snorkelers hopped in the water, and it got crowded. Roy and Joy were great guides - knowledgeable and helpful. Good snacks, good equipment. We much preferred this small group and would use this outfitter again.

It is a privilege to land on the sacred land

If you want to have a zen-like experience I would recommend this above all other companies that I witnessed. The early hour and the fact that the activity requires physical effort to get there ensures that you are with like-minded individuals. A tour boat loaded with tourists is not my idea of fun-especially since they are not allowed to land. It is very obvious that the employees love the sport, the area, and their jobs.

We had a great time!

I did the same tour last year with a different group of friends. We all enjoyed it so much that I did a repeat trip this year. They are very well organized, only give you as much help as you need and want. We had plenty of time to explore individually. Our guide, Roy, was very familiar with the water and different fish, and also the local history. He recommended several good places to go on our own during the following week. They provided good, healthy snacks before we paddled back. This was a good start to our vacation and I would do it again.

Outstanding experience!

This is an excellent tour! It's an early start, but it was worth it. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We had such a good time, that we booked this company's night-time manta ray tour later that week (also a great experience!)

The kayak and snorkel trip was better than we imagined. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable; we felt totally safe and relaxed the whole time. The setting is amazing and the outfit respects the wildlife and marine preserve, which is important to us. If you want to see unparalleled coral reef, fish, and likely dolphins, this is the right trip. Thanks Mike and Karen! :)

A great kayaking/snorkel tour

It was great, but would have been perfect if someone was snorkeling with us to point out the types of fish. The guide we had was very environmentally conscious, which we really appreciated.

Experience of a lifetime-totally worth it!

I found the Adventures in Paradise prices the best of 4-5 other guided tour places that I called and this one seemed the most legitimate (i.e. the take credit cards, they pay the required taxes and environmental fees). We saw 3-4 dozen spinner dolphins on the morning tour which was absolutely amazing - I could have been happy with just watching them the whole time. The snorkling was great too--a bit crowded with other tour groups, but still neat. We really enjoyed our guide Ryan who had lots of details about the history of the bay and Captain Cook. The snacks were great - fresh banana bread and muffins in the morning in addition to the ones later in the day. Highly recommended!

Not what I paid for
Fri, Jun 18, 10   7:30 AM kathyhartfie Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We paid for the Captain Cook tour and snorkel and it was not what we did for some reason. I was really looking forward to seeing the Captain Cook tour and snorkeling there but we he took us somewhere completely different. We paddled for three hours in rough seas and snorkeled once but it was not very good at all. I paid 80.00 each for this tour and did not get what I paid for. We were very disappointed.

Fantastic!

My husband and I had a wonderful time. We were novice kayakers and snorkelers, but had no difficulty with either. The early morning start was great, as we got a lot of snorkeling in before the big boat trips arrived. Highly recommended!

The guides are so helpful!

I went on this excursion with my husband. Since neither of us had kayaked before we were a bit nervous. We ended up tipped over and the guides quickly helped us. We did not feel scared at all. They even gave us some great dining suggestions after the tour.

Get there early and explore!
Fri, Aug 10, 12   7:00 AM KadiCook Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Getting up so early was tough for us but it was the best choice. We were able to get an hour of snorkeling in before the big tour boats came in! Which was totally worth it because once they arrived it was elbow to elbow with other people. We would definitely recommend this option of kayaking over early. Plus Roy and Joy were great guides and brew some awesome home-grown coffee to boot! They were very informative and helpful.

Wonderful support for an older group of new kayak
Wed, Nov 3, 10   7:30 AM kaberwald Female 70+ Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We were a group of 4 that were over seventyth others that were from 20 and up. One with physical problems. They were so helpful and made it a wonderful experience. It gets a little tricky getting out of kayaks on the slippery rocks. Great snacks, information and just wonderful snorkeling. Absolutely recommend them for all ages.

Confused (or Misled)
Wed, Jun 9, 10   7:30 AM JWoodruff57 Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Description of actual kayaking/snorkeling site was false for this trip. After home website gave all the reasons you would want to kayak/snorkle at Captain Cook Monument/area and all the reasons to avoid other areas/companies that go elsewhere, we were taken to an area different from advertised and similar to the "areas to avoid" with no apparent explanation. I don't know if this was a one time change in venue, if there was a problem with permits, etc. and didn't ask. Someone brought it up as the destination was announced and the group was told that this was a less crowded area - although there were two additional groups that came to the area while we were there. We were new to the area, the sport, etc. and were more focused on trying to enjoy ourselves than cause a ruckus. After reviewing Adventures of Paradise website again later, as well as the tickets issued by Zerve, and dealing with a seasick daughter at the end of the trip, I thought it ironic that their website would be so explicit on why we should be doing what they didn't have us do. That aside, the experience of the kayaking and snorkeling by itself was fun, the guides were very nice, etc. I would call ahead of time though to make sure your destination is the one advertised, as this could cause some disappointment.

A True Adventure in Paradise! Great Fun!
Mon, Nov 7, 11   7:15 AM justimagine Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
That was DEFINITELY worth getting up early on a vacation day for! Adventures in Paradise is the kind of tour company I like to do business with - small groups & personal attention. We appreciated that our guides Kiera & Ryan were knowledgeable of the history & flora of the area and very respectful of the marine environment. Our family group of 4 enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful fish & coral! Delightful to see the spinner dolphins! Yummy snacks! Great adventure & comfortable experience for those timid of the water & snorkeling! Lunch at Annie's afterwards was a delicious recommendation, too.
