This was an incredible way for an active family to enjoy this wonderful city. Our tour guide Andrew was charming and lots of fun with the kids. We highly recommend this for anyone who wants an overview of Boston and a great afternoon.

Perfect way to start our visit to Boston

My friend and I only had a a short time to see Boston, and wanted an overview of the city, so we could focus our trip for the remainder of our stay. This bike ride was perfect to get the flavor of the city in only two 1/2 hours. Our guide Andrew was personable and fun. Another great thing about it was burning some calories off before we returned that day to the North End to sample some Cannoli's at Mikes Pastry Shop! Yummy!

Great way to learn about the city!

I am a brand new local having recently moved here. I figured a tour would be the best way to get to know my newly adopted city. Auto tours seem too impersonal and walking tours just don't cover enough area, so I opted for a bike tour. After doing some Google searches, Urban Adventours seemed to be the best bet. Andrew was prompt, easily accessibly by phone, and very friendly. He is very concientious about limiting the group size and will hire in additional tour guides if bookings for a particular tour get too large. He provides the bikes, helmets, and water bottles. I liked the fact that he promptly replaced my bike when I noticed a small squeak in the gears. The best thing about Andrew is that he really customizes the tour to his clients. That means he asks what we are interested in looking at and why (eg, I was new to the city and wanted to know how to get around, others were out of area tourists) then tailored his route and descriptions to match. For example, he pointed out the MBTA routes at major destinations so I could easily return or when he showed me top restaurants in the area that I should try out. Andrew also found out that we all had an open schedule so, since he didn't have another booking that day, he extended our trip to show us around even more! Andrew is a genuinely nice person. He is active in the community and works hard to make his bike tours the very best in Boston. I highly recommend him!

Fun and Informative

The tour was a lot of fun. Provided a good review of locations in the inner city. If you are looking for a detailed analysis of historical sights then this may not be for you, however, if you like a bit of exercise and a sick of a tour bus then go for it!

Learning our way around the city was really fun!

We had a great guide who was very friendly and accomidating to anything extra that we wanted to see. He answered all of our questions as well as filling us in on interesting Boston History. "Don't shoot until you can see the whites of their eyse." The biking wasn't too rigorous, but he took us at a good pace. Good for friends, families and kids all the same. A deffinate should do in Boston. Way better than the Duck Tours. We loved it! Angie and Kris

My 18 year old son and I did this trip -- it was really fun. Even though we live nearby Boston and my son uses his bike to get around Boston regularly -- we saw Boston in a new way. It was a good workout too.

Fastest way around Boston

This is really the best way to see Boston in a short time frame, especially if you'd like to get some exercise in. I was surprised at how much we covered in the 2 or 2 1/2 hour time frame, even with me lagging behind and walking up some hills. Our guide was very knowledgeable and his main concern was doing what the group wanted. He even found us a great italian restaurant and allowed us extra time to sit for a meal. I do think though that there should have been some type of a discount for children. For a family of 4, it was a little too pricey.

This was a fantastic personal way to see the City. It was a great morning out, which the whole family throughly enjoyed. Andrew professionally organised the route so that it was even easy for my inexperienced 8 year old to join in. We saw so much of the city whilst having the history and sights etc explained to us as we went. We also saw plenty of great views and sights that you would only see by bike. The bikes and helmets were all adjusted for comfort for the adults and kids, it was easy. THERE IS NO WAY ANYONE SHOULD MISS OUT ON THIS BOSTON EXPERIENCE IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST DO !!!!!!!!!

Urban Adventours... Boston by bike!
Mon, Apr 23, 07   10:00 AM AReichert Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I enthusiastically recommend Adventours Bike Tour of Boston! However, I recognize that not everyone is favored with the fabulous weather I had in Boston, nor is everyone comfortable with taking up the whole lane as a cyclist. Thus, I would caveat my recommendation for sunny weather and tourists who can keep their brains about them on a bicycle. Why did I love it so much? 1. It was more "gritty" than a Duck Tour (and complementary to it, too). You can stop and photograph the sites you were whisked by on the amphibious tour... and you get a very real appreciation for cobbled streets, Boston hills, and Boston drivers! It was a great antidote to conference food, hotel rooms and workshop panels! 2. It was personalized. Mine was perhaps an extreme case because I happened to be the only one who signed up for a Monday morning tour... but the founder and guide, Andrew, came to fetch me when I got lost on the way to his shop, cheerily answered all of my random questions (what is that blooming yellow shrub?), and provided humorous & historical trivia along the way. 3. It was well-organized, with full water bottles, snacks, and even a place to stash my camera (since I didn't have a backpack). 4. Seeing a city by bicycle is more of an active experience (rather than pedantic and passive) compared to a vehicle tour, but you can cover more area than you could on a walking tour. The perfect compromise!
