What kinds of specialty bikes are available for rent?

**SINGLE SPEED / FIXED GEAR BIKES ($60): These are the MASI Speciale Fixed Drop bikes. They have steel frames and a 46/16 chainring and cog. They can be set up fixed or freewheel and all have front and rear brakes. Sizes run from 49 to 58cm. ** STANDARD ROAD BIKE ($75): These are Aluminum/Carbon road bikes with aluminum frames and carbon fiber seat posts and forks. The components are Shimano 105s. They have triples (the chainring) and are 30 speeds. The women’s specific bike is the Giant Avail and comes from XS to M, good for people as little as 4’11. The unisex bike is the Giant Defy and comes from M to XL. ** FULL CARBON FIBER ROAD BIKES ($100): These are the Specialized Roubaix and the sizes run from 49-61 cm bikes. They are full frame carbon fiber bikes and the components are Shimano 105s. They have doubles (the chainring) and are 20 speeds.

What does my bike rental include?

Bike rentals include a bicycle and the use of a helmet.

Do we get bike locks with our rentals?

Yes, but only by request. If you would like a lock with your rental, we'll provide it free of charge, you'll just have to let us know when you purchase your tickets! Otherwise you can ask us when you arrive at the store and we'll be glad to help you out, but just be sure to tell us at some point that you need one or we won't give you one.

How long do the rentals last?

Rentals last for 24 hours, though you are welcome to return your bike earlier of course. There is no overnight charge but late rentals will be charged for an extra day.

Can I rent a bike for more than one day?

Sure thing! Use the "Contact AdvenTours" link to set up a multi-day rental in advance.

Do you offer delivery?

Yes! To purchase a delivery, contact Urban AdvenTours using the "Contact AdvenTours" link. At least 24 hours advance notice is required for delivery. You may also purchase delivery after you've booked a rental online by contacting Urban AdvenTours, but purchasing a rental does not guarantee delivery.

What are the shop hours when I can pick up and return a bike?

APRIL - SEPTEMBER: 9am - 8pm, seven days per week. *** OCTOBER: 9am - 7pm, seven days per week. *** NOVEMBER: 9am - 7pm, seven days per week. *** DECEMBER: 8am - 6pm, six days per week (closed Sundays in December).

Are the rentals safe?

Yes. Urban AdvenTours is a fully insured company. Be sure to arrive 20 minutes prior to departure time for bike adjustments, to ensure a safe and secure fit. All bikes and helmets are brightly colored for high visibility and fully outfitted with headlights and reflective strips.

Do I have to purchase a bike rental in advance?

Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as the number of bicycles is limited. To maximize your chances of getting the rental you prefer, please buy your tickets well in advance, either online or by phone. Tickets can be purchased through Zerve with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

Is there a security deposit?

You need to bring a credit card with you, so we can hold on to your information in the case of damaged equipment. Your credit card will not be charged. We will simply copy down the card number and other payment information as a security measure.

Am I required to sign a waiver?

Yes. It is a requirement that all individuals participating with Urban AdvenTours agree to sign a waiver. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign for you. A waiver will be provided to each participant to sign before the tour by your street guide.

What if there is rain or inclement weather?

The rental will typically go as planned in a light rain, but not in more severe or unsafe weather conditions. If AdvenTours feels it is unsafe to ride a bicycle, we will contact you on the day of the rental to reschedule to another time that is convenient for you. Please be sure the local (or cell phone) number you provide when buying your tickets is accurate.

What happens if a bike is lost or stolen during a tour or rental?

The customer is liable for the bicycle and will be responsible for the full retail cost of the bike rented.

Are children welcome to rent a bike?

If your children know how to ride a bicycle, take them along! Just remember to let us know before purchasing your rental how many Child bikes you will need. The best thing you can do for your children is to book a private tour!

Are any child attachments available on the specialty bikes?

No, attachments such as child seats, Trail-a-bikes, and Burley trailers are not available on specialty bikes for safety and compatibility reasons. However, attachments are available for customers renting hybrid bikes. If you would like to rent a hybrid bike and arrange for an attachment, please let us know by clicking the "Contact AdvenTours" link.

Are gift certificates available?

Absolutely. There is no better gift for a new student or new resident in the Boston area. It is a great way to help them become more acclimated to the city. Gift certificates are also great birthday, thank you, and anniversary gifts. To purchase a gift certificate, please click on the "Contact AdvenTours" link.

Is a map available?

There is a map of Boston available in the Urban AdvenTours brochure. You may wish to purchase an additional map of the surrounding vicinity which is available in the store.

Can I leave luggage at the shop?

We can store personal articles, bags, or larger luggage during the day for customers on tour or renting bikes. We are not responsible for lost/damaged items. Sorry, but we cannot store anything overnight.

Refund/Rescheduling Policy

Non-refundable, cannot be rescheduled.

Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded and cannot be rescheduled because your space is being guaranteed at the event.

Weather Policy

Activity may be cancelled due to severe weather.

The activity usually runs in light rain and other moderate weather conditions, but the seller may cancel the activity up to an hour before the start time in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions. If the seller cancels the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule tickets (subject to availability) or receive credit for a future event.

Other Policies

Participants must sign a waiver before renting a bike.

Upon arrival, participants must sign a waiver before riding. Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign for them.

All rentals require a credit card authorization.

All participants must provide a credit card at the start of the rental. There will be no charge on the card. The information will only be used in the case of damage or loss of property.

Customers are responsible for the safe and timely return of all rented equipment.

If a rental bicycle or helmet is lost, stolen, damaged or not returned to Urban AdvenTours, you will be charged for its full retail value. If you do not return equipment by the end of business on the day of your rental, you will be charged for an additional day. This fee will be charged to the credit card information you provide at check in.
