A wonderful experience, but maybe not for everyone

My wife and I selected this bicycle tour based on other reviews on this site and we were not disappointed in the least. Our guide was friendly, outgoing and very informative - a true Bostonian! The tour certainly takes you all around the city and you get a chance to see all the major sites bar none. However, if you are not used to riding a bicycle, or riding one in heavy traffic in particular, this may not be the tour for you. The tour has many segments where you are not "fighting traffic" but you will certainly encounter a lot of it. Let's face it, this is a city tour of a very busy city! The pace of the tour, while not the Tour de France, is quite brisk and depending on the weather (we had a headwind during a long stretch) can be a little taxing to some. The stops we made were good and allowed for photo taking, a history lesson and the like, however I think we would have preferred a more leisurely pace that allowed for more stops/photo taking. Of course even at a brisk pace the tour was three hours, so to slow it down would either extend the time or reduce the coverage, something most may not be willing to commit to / sacrifice. Again however, a wonderful tour overall but one best done at the beginning of your stay in Boston and used as a reference to re-visit landmarks you may have missed as you were pedaling along, fighting the morning commute with all the road raged drivers...

My daughter and I decided to see the city in a whole new way so that is why we signed up for this tour. It was a good experience, however, we felt that it was a bit too long if you are not in excellent physical condition. If you are not an avid biker, this tour is hard to do. Bring a seat pad or wear padded bike shorts as the seats are very hard! We think they should shorten the tour by about a half hour. I would not recommend this to anyone who does not bike a lot.

We joined this tour thinking it would give us another view of Boston, outside of the 'tried and true' locations of Boston. This bike tour gave us a true appreciation of what Boston has to offer in the way of little known areas and parks. Make sure you bring comfortable clothing and your camera, as you won't want to miss the areas that this tour hits.

I would thoroughly recommend the Boston Bike Tour to anyone. It was really interesting and as well as taking in all the obvious tourist sites took in many of the other neighborhoods a visitor would not normally take in. Our guide was friendly, informative and clearly enjoyed his job. I would recommend the tour to anyone who wishes to see the city, and learn about it, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere whilst also getting in a bit of exercise.

Ed was very interesting. All went very well. Loved seeing the stone houses close to the store and the South End and the North End. Nice to get down to the river. Cylcing seemed like nothing given the many breaks. Hard to believe we did 11 miles. Ed gave signals - were we supposed to do them so people could see them if they could not always see Ed? Some people had rattling chains - likely the front derailleur rubbing it, but with indexed didn't seem to be adjustable. The bikes were great though and well maintained. So glad I toured Boston this way!

Simply said, when you want to see a new city, get off your fat American arse and foot or bike it! Boston was a beautiful example of a great place that you would never be able to see a city's incredible sites by car. Our guide was knowledgable of not only the history of Boston and its centuries of significance, but had a keen awareness of modern events and cultural happenings in all of the great spots we hit. While we majored on the majors, this was not an in depth search of the Freedom Trail (and was not advertised as such), so I had the privilege of conversing with our guide for further relevant cultural and historical areas to explore. I would give this a hearty recommendation for anyone looking for an active and thourogh exploration of Boston.

A friend from Las Vegas and one from South Carolina and I loved our bike tours of Boston, Cambridge and Charlestown. We got a sense of where things are in relation to various sections of Boston...how and where Back Bay was built - amazing. Enjoyed hearing of the important role Boston played in the Revolution. I fell in love with Boston, my chosen home, all over again!

My son and I were visiting colleges in Boston (BU and NEU) and found this tour. It was a great way to see the city up close and personal, as well as get some exercise. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and had great Boston stories. We would definitely take this tour again or another tour offered by AdvenTours.

Closer to sights than a bus tour and covers more ground than walking. Excellent orientation of downtown Boston. Trip is not strenous and guide is outstanding.

Sam was our tour guide. We were a total of 6 including Sam and everyone had at least an intermediate level of biking. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the tour. It was about a 12-mile ride which took us through Brookline, South End, Copley Square, Downtown Boston, the North End, Beacon Hill, the Charles River Esplanade, Fenway Park, Boston Common...oh, what else am I missing. I highly recommend! If you're scared of biking in car traffic, don't be too worried. Sam was able to keep us safe.

I found the trip very well organised and on time. The equipment was first rate...I had not been on a bike in 12 years and it was just a few minutes before I was comfortable. The guide was very familar with the city and was excited about telling us all the little details about the sites we visited..the route was very very interesting and varied ...I had gone to college here 40 years ago but had never appreciated the city from this perspective before I would take the touir again in a heart beat

My girlfriend and I were in Boston for a couple of days and thought it would be a good idea to take a bike tour. As it turns out, it was a GREAT idea! By far the highlight of our trip. We got to see so much of the city and our tour guide, Sam, was fantastic. We were able to check out so much in a relatively short time and got so much insight and history into Boston and American History. I couldn't have asked for a better time and experience.
