Terrific Tour

Our cruise on Adventure Cat was the highlight of our recent visit to San Francisco. Finding the boat was easy and we arrived early to ensure we knew where we were going. We sailed out and around Alcatraz, then along the coast of Sausalito. We then went under the Golden Gate Bridge and back to the Bay Bridge. The day was perfect (well almost perfect). Blue skies and sunshine made the entire bay sparkle. It was a little chilly but the boat offered coats for anyone who was cold (we were dressed for the weather so it wasn't a problem for us). I got many wonderful photos for memories of a wonderful afternoon on San Francisco Bay. Thanks, Adventure Cat!

a force 4-5 wind!

The wind was a-blowin 20-25 mph and made for an exciting sail around Alcatraz, across the bay and under the Golden Gate Bridge. The large catamaran was stable and made for a relatively smooth ride. My wife, a non swimmer, was comfortable in the large cockpit taking pictures while my granddaughter and I were on the netting in the bow area. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable and ready to answer the hundreds of questions from the guests. I'd recommend the trip to all visitors to San Francisco.

Very fun, but bring extra layers!

My friends and I took one of our friends on the boat ride for her the beginning of her bridal shower/bachelorette day. The weather was slightly overcast, but the ride was still beautiful and the staff were really nice to us. We're locals, so we thought we had prepared for the trip (brought extra layers, hats, coats, gloves), but MAN was it cold! If you're going to do this, bring TONS of clothes for the trip out (or stay inside the glass part of the boat) - the trip back is much better because you are out of the wind. Regardless, we had a great time on the boat and had a great day all in all!

I believe this is one of the most undersold, best value activities in the bay area. This cruise gives you an excellent view of the city, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. I been many times. I have taken a teen birthday party on the cruise; my children; my husband and I alone on a romantic day and on a date with my in-laws! You can sit on the nets with the water just a short distance below, have a glass of wine and just enjoy the ride. I have been on this trip during rainy weather, choppy seas and calm sunny days. Either way, you feel complete confidence and safety with the crew on board. At $25 for adults, this is a full hour and a half of far greater value. You are on the boat a good amount of time, but after your sail is complete, you feel you have achieved an all day adventure. It really takes you away from the stress and worry. I drive down from Sacramento, park near Aliotos restaurant. Walk the 5 min to Pier 39 and get on the cruise. Once off, we are free to explore, eat at one of the restaurants validating the parking and then get back in the car. Easy, so relaxing and exhilerating all at once. I can leave at 10 am and be home by 5:00 pm I just went there this Memorial Weekend for my 45th birthday. I could not think of anything else I would rather do. Love it! I am a late bloomer in saling- went my first time just 2 years ago. But, I have been going back 3 times per year ever since. Kim

The boat was clean, friendly staff. Tame ride, teenagers would have liked something with a little more thrill with it. Great picture taking opportunities. Enjoyed. Dress warm, it can be cold. No tour commentary...a little of that would have been nice.

Wonderful sail around the bay!

If you are looking for more than the "ferryboat" type tour around the bay, this is the way to go. The AdventureCat has outside trampolines and places to stand at the rail for the more adventurous that want the wind in their hair and comfy seating inside with a nice view and at the back of the boat for those that would prefer a little more relaxation. This bay cruise isn't narrated, but you can listen to the oldies while getting an up close look at the Pier 39 sea lions as you sail right past them out into the bay, around Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge. Definitely an enjoyable 1 1/2 hours and I would recommend it to anyone. Why pay $18-$21 for a crowded 1 hour "ferryboat" type tour, when you can cruise around the bay in a catamaran for only $25 with just a few other people. It was the highlight of our day in San Fancisco.
