BEST KEPT SECRET IN San Francisco!
Tue, Sep 18, 07   1:00 PM nsum42 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Unspecified
My friend and I came to SF for just five days and ended up seeing a lot. However, catching a breeze while sailing underneath the Golden Gate Bridge was THE highlight by far. The captain and crew were helpful, professional and fun! We both agreed it was the best part of our trip. P.S. A helpful tip for travelers - they even had extra jackets on the sailboat (nice touch - and needed) as it got cold on the water.

Fun Ride

We try and go sailing in every city we visit. The views are amazing of the bay area and bridges. This is one of our favorite things to do. The adventure cat is designed to where you can enjoy the ride from a wind shielded part of the boat or walk right on the deck and feel like part of the crew. It is a bit cold and there is a possibility of getting wet. Don't forget to bring a jacket and wear a sweater. If you forget them they were offering extras onboard. There are also beverages and snacks available. We really enjoyed our outing. The captain and crew were friendly and made special time to care for a guest that was wheelchair bound. (yes, the boat is wheelchair accessible and the gentleman looked like he had a wonderful time) would definetly recommend this activity

VERY ENJOYABLE

WE ENJOYED THIS CRUISE VERY MUCH. OUR ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THAT THEY USED THE ENGINES TOO MUCH AND THERE WAS ACTUALLY VERY LITTLE SAILING. (THIS MAY HAVE BEEN UNAVOIDABLE BECAUSE OF WIND CONDITIONS.) THE CREW WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND IT WAS MUCH NICER THAN A BIG CROWDED "TOUR" BOAT.

Quiet sailing -up close and personal with the scenery. Not shuffled in and out like cattle. Felt like a private charter .

Nothing Special

OK time - refreshments rather plain and unsophisticated; limited information provided about the Bay and sights. Should have gone past the GG bridge to mouth of Bay.

This is one of those "must do" things when visiting the San Francisco area. Whether you are old or young, the sailing experience is totally awesome!! The crew was very friendly and certainly quite knowledgeable about their superb well equipped sailing vessel and catered to everyone's needs and answered every trivial question that members in our party had. Once we got out into open waters, the sails were hoisted, and the engine cut, and the ship came alive being powered solely by the breezes on the SF Bay. We spent the entire journey out on the front deck and open weaved canvas netting - feeling and seeing the water rushing by directly under us. We sailed around Alcatraz Island, then under the Golden Gate Bridge. Now, THAT was an unbelievable experience I'll never forget. All too soon, our 90 minute voyage was over - but we will certainly return again and again when visiting San Francisco in future years. This was the highlight of our day in San Francisco for sure. So, what are you waiting for? You won't regret this trip!! I just wished we lived closer so I could do this every weekend!!

Sailing on the Bay in a catamaran
Mon, Sep 24, 07   1:00 PM BarneyKate Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
We are glad we chose the catamaran cruise over the others. We sailed around Alcatraz, and under the Golden Gate Bridge. We were close to the water, even spotted a fish from time to time. I would do this cruise again, maybe the sunset one next time.

Take this cruise to get a nice view of the Golden Gate at the sunset. View of the city in the evening and then in the night is worth the trip. I also got to see some nice aerobatic display from some planes practicing aerobatic manoeuvre. You will get a couple of drinks and some snacks during the cruise. Overall a nice experience!

10th Anniversary Cruise- September 27, 2007

If you want to do something that is fun and easy going, THIS IS IT! If you are outside, the wind is blowing your hair around, the water is splashing and you can enjoy all beauty around you. We went on the sunset cruise, although it was foggy and more windy than usual (according to the locals) and cooler, it was the funnest thing we did. We saw Alcatraz up close, a couple of sea loins said hello, the sun peeked through the clouds, some guys jumping into the bay with parachutes and getting lifted 20' back in the air because of the lovely wind. We were able to see both the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges from a differnt perspective. It was awe inspiring! If you were inside, the were playing music, dance of you like, had food to nibble on, your choice of drinks (one lady enjoyed her wine) but still with all the views. It was a house party on water. The guys (sorry I forgot your names) had all the answers but you had to ask. This was a cruise not a tour. On the return trip, we got a beautiful view of San Francisco all lit-up. At this point, the wind was at our backs, things were calmer, and it was relaxing way to end the cruise. Go for the ride, go for the views, go for the fun, go for the memories! **If you are looking at the that gushy romantic thing with the weather perfect and candle lights - you better go on one of those boring cruises.

Skip the big Blue and Gold boats and do this one. You'll be raving about it for a long time. Excellent trip, sunset cruise is best.

AWESOME

This cruise was absolutely wonderful. The only thing that could possibly make it better is for them to talk about the things we were seeing. For some of us, we would have never known which bridge was the "golden gate", that the island was actually Alcatraz...just some basic knowledge sharing would be great. Had a really great time and would love the evening cruise on my next visit!

No Commentary

Although the catamaran was a lovely way to see the bay, it would have been nice to have some kind of commentary of what we were looking at. Most of the passengers had no idea about anything except the Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz. We live in Southern CA and the trip was highly recommended and luckily we knew what we were seeing.
