Good Choice for a scenic cruise of SF Bay

Had a good time on this 1.5-hr cruise, just wish the weather had been better (very cloudy). Could easily see that if "sunset" had actually happened the trip would have offered some really great photo ops. The food and drinks provided were very good and the crew was very friendly and helpful. We had pre-purchased our tickets online, so we were going as long as the cruise was sailing. You take a gamble on the weather that way but you do get to go. Might try to do this again by booking on a day when the weather is good. Other than that, I would recommend doing this tour to anyone who wants to have a good time and see SF and the Golden Gate from a different perspective.

Review of Bay Cruise
Sat, May 2, 09   6:30 PM joelbowers Female 30-39 Local Family Without Children
I purchased 4 tickets for the bay cruise. When we walked up to the waiting dock to check in with the greeter (Monique?). In the middle of us checking-in, she diverted the conversation to a few friends who were walking by and invited them for free and gave them unlimited drinks on the boat. It was one thing to stop me when i was in mid sentence, but to carry on and flirt with these guys was embarrassing, unprofessional and immature. It was really disappointing and I will not recommend this cruise to friends who visit.

I have had cruise before in SFO, but this time was superb and amazing. Beautiful boat, clean tidy. I strongly recomment for anyone thinking of a bay cruise.

The adventure cat sunset cruise was fun, entertaining, on time, well stocked, and completely enjoyable. I intend to go again the next time I'm in San Fransisco.

Sailing tour exceeded my expectations

I had seen the blue and gold fleet cruisers touring the Bay, and thought it looked dull and crowded. I had been to the city many times before, but my partner hadn't, and I wanted him to have a unique experience. So when I saw the sailboat tour, I thought this would satisfy both conditions. And did it ever! The boat was plenty spacious (especially as there were only 7 of us on board that day), and the captain and his mate were both welcoming. We departed on time and were quickly out of the harbor. The day was perfect for sailing - a consistent wind, but not strong enough that the water was choppy. I took advantage of the boat's spare wind breaker jackets to ward off the chill and the spray, and was quite comfortable standing near the bow the entire trip. We rounded Alcatraz, passed close to Sausalito, and then went under the Golden Gate Bridge briefly before heading back into the Bay. Great photo opportunities the whole way. Redocking was quick and efficient, and we were on our way an hour and a half later. Much better than the boring cruisers, and about the same price.

Lots of fun

My husband and I went on the cruise and just loved it. I am someone who ALWAYS gets sick on boats and this time forgot my Dramamine. Good thing for me, I didn't need it. The ride was so smooth and so much fun. Thanks

A great underrated activity in San Francisco

My partner and I have taken the Adventure Cat Bay Cruise twice now, and find it is one of the great underrated activities in San Francisco. The craft is stable in the stiffest winds and the crew unfailingly friendly. The cruise has a low-key feel, helped along by the reasonable bar. The itinerary--around Alcatraz, under the Golden Gate Bridge, and back to Pier 39--provides great sights, and at 90 minutes the cruise seems just the right duration.

An amusing experience

The views of San Francisco, Marin and the Golden Gate bridge from the bay were definitely worth the trip. It was freezing cold on the water but a nice warm bread bowl with clam chowder afterwards fixes it right up. I enjoyed the excitement of barreling over waves while passing under the Golden Gate bridge, however I definitely recommend taking something for nausea for those who get motion sickness.

Loved It

We had a great time with friends. The boat is a good size for a first sailing experience and for kids. It was also the perfect length of time to be out on the water. Definitely recommend this company to anyone who wants to sail on the SF Bay.

Reservation process okay, but it would not accept a coupon I had from a tour guide. This was very frustrating and I never did get the discount.

great trip!

We had a few problems in the beginning because of schedule issues (our issues.. not theirs!), but their customer service is excellent! We explained the situation and they were happy to accomadate us. The 2 man crew were very professional, very helpful, and extremely friendly. We'd definitely go again... trying to get all of our friends to go with us. Well worth the $$!! Great experience. Seeing the city views from the bay was beautiful... going UNDER the Golden Gate Bridge was beautiful. The whole trip was great!

Best way to experience San Francisco Bay!

As far as I know, this is the only boat that will take you out past the Golden Gate Bridge. It is an incredible experience, especially on a sunny windy day, like we had. I say this as an experienced sailor who has sailed through the gate many times while racing. The boat is very stable and no one in my group (non-sailors) got seasick. You can stay inside if you get cold, but for those that go out on the bow, the experience is unforgettable. If it is windy (and it probably will be, even if it isn't when you board) bring a full rainsuit with overshoes if you have it, and some warm clothes underneath. They have some jackets on the boat, but it was our feet and pants that got wet. Another recommendation: bring polaroid glasses, especially if its cloudy. These will allow you to see all the dolphins and sea lions just under the surface, and there are many. They have drinks and snacks on board, and the crew was very professional

Not over-hyped. Nice romantic get-away

I was bracing for an over-hyped experience given the number of glowing review here. Especially since my friends who grew up here all told me that I was ripped off for paying so much for the sunset cruise. It was well worth it. It's not like any of the gaudy tourist traps offered at Fisherman's Wharf. It's a pleasant cruise. The pace was easy going and tranquil. The snacks and the drinks helped a lot too. It was the perfect way to end the day being a local tourist.

Picture picture weather, on a picture perfect catamaran, with a friendly crew and an awesome group of friends. Could not ask for anything more. Will definitely do again
