The perfect historic food tour

Entertaining and informative tour location and guides with well thought out food samplings that were the perfect portions to bring you through the 3 hour lunch tour and carry you until dinner.

We loved the history and our guide was very good explaining it. The food was varied and good, but I found it hard to eat and enjoy some things standing up with a napkin for a plate!

Alana our guide was informative on both local history and the food in the districts of china town and little Italy and explained how these two areas have merged and why . The food tastings were great but please let her know if you are a vegetarian as she can cater for this . We enjoyed this tour immensely and I would suggest it at the beginning of a holiday to immerse yourself in the food culture of this wonderful city and perhaps to get into some of the independent establishments and not the franchise or chain restaurants . Very well worth the effort of negotiating the n y underground

Rich in HIstory and Flavor!! 3-hours well spent!

This tour is incredible and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about New Yorks' rich history and culinary contributions of ChinaTown and Little Italy. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and maintain a perfect balance of immigrant and cultural history, story telling, food facts, and local expertise throughout the tour. The tour is approximately three hours long but very well paced with frequent stops, opportunities to sit down and a bathroom facility provided in the middle. Wear comfortable walking shoes, a bottle of water and your appetite! Every food stop was deliciously chosen and at the end of the tour the one thing we could all agree on was that we didn't have a single "favorite" part of the tour, the whole experience was a favorite! As an individual trying to find a way to best spend my morning in New York, this tour was the perfect activity.

Fantastic

The tour and Alanah were great. My girlfriend and I are from NZ and had not done a food tour anywhere before. Knowing little about the area Allanah shared interesting stories about the history of the area, and was very knowledgable about the food we were eating. She also gave recommendations on other good spots to try out. This tour was a fantastic way to try a number of different foods that you might not usually do. By the end of the tour we were both very full from all the tastings we had. Thank you very much for a wonderful experience, and I will be telling all my friends that visit NY to do this tour!

Wonderful Tour in Small Amount of Time!

Enjoyed the tour very much, and was glad that it didn't take a whole day away from doing other things! I had never done this before, but would do it again at different places!! Our tour guide was very informative and personable. Also, the number in the group was not too large. We always rank our vacations by our food, and would rank this highly!!

This is a "walking and tasting" tour of Little Italy and Chinatown with quick stops at various interesting restaurants and delis. The idea is to give visitors a glance of the food culture of both Little Italy and Chinatown. The tour groups are small and the guides are very knowledgeable, which gives participants a lot of opportunities to have their own questions answered. With a cost of nearly $50, plus tip to the guide, this is not the cheapest "attraction" in New York but I would still not consider it expensive, if you take part because of an interest in the neighbourhood's food culture and not because of hunger. You get to taste many different things, from Italian ham and cheese to Chinese dumplings and egg rolls, but each serving is quite small. It is therefore safe to say that the food is a small part of the cost and that you pay for the guide and the knowledge you gain, and you do learn a lot during this three-hour walking tour.

Great tour guide and walk, but food so-so

We really enjoyed walking the two neighborhoods and hearing the history. Our tour guide was great and had some very interesting stories. The food was a little disappointing. The Italian cheeses and pastries were great but it went somewhat downhill after that. But the tour guide made up for it and we were definitely glad we did the tour.

Loved it! Appreciate Alana's enthusiasm and foodie knowledge. ONLY thing I'd change is that it would have been nice to enjoy a sip of tea at the Thai restaurant or a taste of Espresso with the luscious Cannoli. I do understand the time constraints.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour - we ate many morsels of delicious food and learnt lots about their origin. All this tastiness was interspersed with a detailed history of the area and much useful, local knowledge. We had a really great morning and would recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York.

Only my 8 year old wasn't thrilled, but she did fine. Since we did a lot of walking and eating I didn't hear any complaining. Even the NY local who toured with us loved the experience. I learned so much about NYC history, and sampled delicious food. Do yourself a favor and fit this tour into your schedule.

My niece, her husband and I enjoyed this tour immensely. Alana was our guide and was a wealth of both history information and food information on this tour. I am from out of town and they are local and it was enjoyable and interesting for all of us. I highly recommend this as a fun and informative thing to do.
