Alana, the tour guide, was recommended by a friend who spent a week in NY recently. I saw the tickets available on Goldstar and was looking for something to do on a long weekend in NY. Even without the Goldstar deal, tickets are very reasonable compared to other culinary/walking tours. We met up with a group a 10 people. Alana is incredibly well-spoken, poised and knowledgeable. The weather was absolutely perfect, which also contributed to a great experience. The tastings were better organized than some of the tours I've participated in before - most likely because Alana commits to keeping the group small (I believe she said no more than 12 people). Our group of 3 was from California, but there were also some locals who tagged along and didn't know about these hidden gems in Chinatown and Little Italy. Needless to say, our entire group LOVED this experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, a lovely stroll, and some delightful tastes of NY. Tips: join Goldstar Events for deals; don't eat too much before - there is plenty of food; and be sure to tip your tour guide for being awesome! |

Low-Key, Fun, Filling Tour

Ahoy was fun, simple, and delicious. Great for locals and tourists, alike. A wonderful date option in the city. We definitely got our money's worth and learned new anecdotes about both Little Italy and Chinatown. The best aspect was getting a slew of recommendations for restaurants in those parts of town, as picking a place to eat can be overwhelming with so many options in both 'hoods.
Food highlights: mozzarella and prosciutto in Little Italy and candy tastings in Chinatown. Not a huge fan of the dumplings we tasted - there are much better around Chinatown and beyond, but the joint was on an overlooked block which was fun to discover. We also would have rather dined at one of the Chinatown hot spots, as opposed to the Thai restaurant. Although it was a perfectly fine restaurant, it felt a little incongruous and the food wasn't special.
Overall, we would recommend this tour and hope Ahoy expands to other neighborhoods. |

This is a nice introductory tour for non-locals. While everything was tasty there was not much on the tour that I had not eaten or known about the area we were exploring. This is a good introduction to Chinatown and Little Italy. For people who really want to explore unusual culinary offerings or get an in-depth and unknown history of these neighborhoods this is probably not the tour for you. |

very interesting and exceptionel tour throughout Little Italy and Chinatown in New York. it is quite remarkable that not only tourists from abroad join the tour, there are real New Yorkers who think that they will learn something special about their own city. The mixture of information and tasting of the national specialities is a very very good idea as a new kind of city sightseeing. Very, very recommandable. |

Allana provided history of Little Italy and Chinatown and selected great restaurants and shops for food tasting. She was very patient with people who were lost and anyone who needed extra help. I would rate her tour as one of the best in NYC. |

Ahoy NY Food Tours was my first guided food tour, and it was amazing from start to finish. I was particularly amazed by Alana's ability to convey the stories of the neighborhoods from past to present. Doing that with food is a genius idea and all of the restaurants we visited were great! Giving us a list of suggested eateries throughout New York City was an excellent touch as well. I will definitely recommend Ahoy NY Food Tours to everyone I know who is visiting NYC. |

My teenage daughters and I did the tour on our 2nd day in NYC. We learnt some really interesting historical facts that you don't read in the tourist books or online, which was a surprise! The food tasting was fun and delicious and there wasn't too much walking in the heat. Overall this was a great way to spend a few hours getting to know Little Italy and Chinatown. Thank you to our hostess for her friendly guidance. We would recommend this tour to anyone. There were even some locals from NYC! |
