I think that if I had read up on Amish traditions and the culture, then I would have enjoyed more just driving around in the car and looking at the farms, rather than on the big bus where I couldn't really see anything. The "guide", "interpreter" what ever you call him, sat at the front of the bus and had a beautiful view of everything and would say, "Look over there! You see a blah blah blah "and would tell about it but we could not figure out where we were supposed to be looking. Sometimes he said, "Over on your right..." which was somewhat more helpful, but 50% of the time I was lost.
The tour was overbooked so we ended up with kids on the laps, which was not fun for 1-1/2 hours. The stops (wine tasting, one Amish farm with a little shop selling quilts, and a tourist trap bakery) were nice in that we were off the bus, but we could have made those stops in our car. Well, probably not the Amish farm because we would not have known to stop there.
The "Amish farmstead" tour was rushed and ended up that the lady sat us down in the orientation room and told everything about what we were GOING TO SEE as we walked through the house, what to look for in each room, etc, then we went on our own through the house. So we didn't really know what we were looking at. And the guide was not with us so we could not ask questions in most of the room. This tour was rushed because the bus tour was overbooked and it had taken 15 minutes to get everyone situated in the bus before we left, so we were 15 minutes late getting back.
The movie lent an interesting perspective on the Amish church and I recommend watching it.
I would not do this again, but we did learn something things about the Amish people and saw some beautiful farms, so I don't regret the $$ spent. |

My husband and I both enjoyed this supersaver tour package.
Bus brought us into the back roads of the amish farm country, we learned a lot about the lifes of the amish people. Theater was different and movie was good.
Everyone should see how amish people still live, very interesting. The scenery
is breathtaking. |

We enjoyed our bus tour very much. We enjoyed the stories and history told by our guide and the great local places that he took us to. Don't miss the bakery or the quilt shop. The film was moving and inspiring. Certainly a unique presentation. Only 3 theaters like it in North America. The food and service was great at the restaurant. Very informative and educational for adults and kids. Would not recommend it for very young children. |

The tour by bus was really informative and fun. My husband and I enjoyed stopping at the Amish stores, etc. Two stores was probably a bit much (each 20 minute stops), but overall enjoyable. |

Very organized tour, all in order upon our arrival. We toured the house first, then the bus tour, a break for lunch at the on-site restaurant, then the movie. It took about 4 1/2 hours to do everything and well worth the money. Bus tour of the Amish Farmlands was the highlight, especially the stops at the local bake shops.
Thanks!!! |

We live about an 1 1/2hrs away in Baltimore and it felt really good to get out of the atmosphere of the city and tour the countryside. We always like to include education in our getaways so this was perfect. It was thoroughly enjoyable to learn about such a different culture. We even found some elements that we can incorporate in our lifestyle.
Only one minor downside - the food at Plain & Fancy restaurant could have been served warmer/hotter. I believe that we actually like Good N'Plenty restaurant better.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. |

The bus tour and theater were great. The homestead tour was not worth it. I had my 82 year old parents and they could not climb the steps. We were not even offered an verbal of what was upstairs. The tour guide focused more on his ADHD than anything.
We were under the impression that the Amish Experience staff would allow us to do part of the "Super Deal" on another day, but this was not the case. We were told when we would do each event, and there was no time for lunch in between any of it,
I would recommend individual events rather than the Super Saver, as the inconvenience was not worth the savings |
