Seller Description:
Amish Country Tours (Dutchland Tours, Inc.) has been providing guided tours in Lancaster County for over 40 years.

The Amish Experience has been chosen three years straight as the local tour provider for the Smithsonian Associates. We have hosted the National State Teachers of the Year, we are the only Amish attraction in the state to be certified for continuing education credits by the Pennsylvania Department of
Education, and our Amish Country Homestead is the only Amish house tour in Lancaster County designated a Heritage Site.

Our goal is that visitors will come to see the Amish not as saints or curiosities, but as neighbors with a different way of life. We believe that the differences between cultures need not divide us. If we can respect each other's uniqueness, then we can learn from one another, rather than let differences divide us. As one of our Amish friends once said, "We're just people."

Activity Description
The Amish V.I.P. Tour is a unique opportunity to interact with three of our Amish neighbors. This is an experience many visitors hope to have, but rarely are able to accomplish in a short visit.

This 3-hour twilight tour is limited to 14 people in a van with our guide to allow a more personal experience, as we visit the Amish on the farm, at work, and at home.

Stop 1: Amish farm at milking time. When we arrive at the farm, we will go to the barn to observe the milking process. You may be surprised to learn that the Amish do not milk cows by hand. You will also discover how milk is kept cool in the bulk tank via "Amish electricity."

Stop 2: Amish "cottage industry." With the price and scarcity of farmland, many Amish have started their own small enterprises, making everything from gazebos and furniture to farm equipment and quilts. These "home businesses" have become the subject of books and articles because of the balance they achieve between work and family. We'll visit and talk to one of the Amish at a good example of just such a "cottage industry."

Stop 3: Visit to an Amish home. To conclude our evening, we will visit an Amish home for friendly conversation, providing a chance to talk informally and visit the way the Amish do. Strangers soon become friends.

The day and time of your bus tour is set and the number of passengers limited. The price of the tour applies to adults and children, and the tour is not recommended for small children.
