The two of us did the bus, house & movie package. I thought the bus tour was the most interesting. I recommend this package as a way to explore the Amish culture. You must try their pretzels... |

I have been on this particular tour before and would have enthusiastically recommended it to anyone who visited Amish country. However, this particular experience left a foul taste in my mouth after our bus tour with Joe (10:30 am on 07/05/07). He spent the entire tour referring to us as "you people" like we were a horrible disease or something. It was rude and disrespectful, he made it sound like everyone in the surrounding area was wonderful and beautiful and we were not worthy to be in their presence. Then he had the audacity to insult half the bus by telling us we wasted our time and money on a college education, when the Amish could do miraculous things on an 8th grade education. I was appalled. Everyone does not have to have a college education, some people weren't meant for college, but for some man to tell me that mine was useless simply because he didn't understand it was rude and uncalled for. I have never been so insulted. If I hadn't have been stuck in the middle of farmland I very well might have gotten off the bus. For being an older individual you would have thought he would have shown a little more respect! I have never, ever been so furious or so horrible treated by someone. Thankfully my mother taught me respect and I was able to look past his boorishness and enjoy the sights and meeting some of the local people. I had every intention of going in to demand my money back but decided against it when our next tour guide, Ken, took us to the house and the movie experience. Both were wonderful. However, for fear that someone I care about would get stuck on a tour with an awful man like Joe, I probably would not recommend this to anyone.
Thank you for your time.

Very enjoyable and informative. Good glimpse of the Amish lifestyle. Sometimes it appeared that the guides were making rehearsed speeches rather than presenting it in an interesting way.- esp. the Amish home visit. Good on the whole. Super saver package is value for money. |

We had a wonderful time. The bus tour was great and the tour guide was well informed and answered all questions to everyone's satisfaction. We enjoyed it immensely. The Amish Experience play was wonderful - the special effects were terrific. The tour of the Amish house was very informative.
I look forward to our next trip to Lancaster and will recommend this tour to anyone who asks. |
