The tour driver was informative about the Amish and their lifestyle. We visited to Amish farms, both of which sold Amish gitt items to tourists, that was ok but I saw no reason for the stop at a Pensylvania wine tasting room other than a way for the tour operator to make extra money.. The wines were not good. In the package was a tour of a recreation of an Amish home. We enjoyed seeing the home and learning how the Amish live. The tour also included a multimedia presentation on the Amish religion, looking at the challenge of a 16 year old boy trying to decide which world to choose, Amish or English. The presentation needs updating but was ok.

Growing up near a lot of Amish and Mennonites, I already knew much of their culture and life. However, my wife learned a lot and enjoyed it. I was impressed by the van driver Joanne's interest in the participants having a safe and enjoyable day. Leon conducted a very interesting presentation in the Amish home and displayed some showmanship. The theatre "slice of life" was insightful. I particularly liked the visit to the farm while my wife and other ladies liked the various stops at country stores and "knick-knack" shops. The visit to Mt Hope Winery's Outlet was a plus. The young fellow there gave an education in wine tasting that was quite good. All in all, I say it was a nice introduction to this way of life for the uninitiated. I would enjoy more details of the history of the Reformation movement and Ana-Baptists in general and the schizms that developed between the followers of Menno Simons and Jacob Amman. May I suggest a map to pinpoint areas of Amish and Mennonite communities would help participants relate to Brethern in their own nighborhoods. Jed Minaya, Mechanicsburg, Pa

I could have sworn that, on my first tour (a handful of years ago), the wine tasting part was much improved -- an actual wine tasting primer -- and not just a liquor store stop. For that matter, I could have done without all of the food and shopping stops; instead, stops at the local craftsmen shops (where crafts/repairs are actually made) would have been much more appreciated. It would have been better to have brighter projectors for the theatre; many of the images were very difficult to make out.

The tour was very informative and educational even though I have read many Amish novels. We were surprised (as we had not been told) when the tour stopped at an Amish bakery and also at a quilt shop. The stop at the winery could have been dropped however as that had nothing to do with the Amish. The guides were very courteous and resourceful. The movie was very good as was the farm house tour.
Rating: 5 One of my most enjoyable learning experiences.

I highly recommend this tour. The driver/guide was not only well-informed but he has many Amish friends and could easily speak about them personally. I gained a deep and abiding appreciation for both the Amish life style and religion. The Amish home tour was very enlightening. The guide was pleasant and very informative. I liked the way she spoke and how she kept the large group of tourists engaged. The cinema was unexpected. I thought I was going to see a normal movie but it was truly a sensory experience. If you want to learn more about the Amish community this is definitely your best choice.

My husband and I both truly enjoyed the tour. It was so interesting to see and hear how the Amish live. THe bus tour was phenomenal - it took us through the farmlands and the tour guide was very informative with plenty of detail. The house tour, was also very interesting, It was amazing to hear and see the Amish home and why they choose to dress the way they do. I thought I knew alot about them but I learned so much more. The movie "Jacobs Choice" was a nice ending to the tour. I would suggest that you use the "Super Value Package". To take just one package, to me, would not be worth the money. We went to the "Family Cupboard" to eat dinner and there the food was excellent and the buffet was worth the money.

Usually, a tour is only as good as the person conducting the tour. We had John (a former teacher and it showed in his patience and demeanor). We would recommend this tour without reservation to anyone interested in learning abpout the Amish people, their history, and ther customs.
