I liked the visit to the Homestead and the Theater experience, but I found that there was not enough learning on the bus tour and I resented paying $26 or so to travel to 3 places to spend additional money. I could have visited the stores and winery in my car, on my own. |

The driving tour was great, with an entertaining guide giving insights into the Amish culture and history that we wouldn't have gotten driving around on our own. The theater event was certainly a worthwhile experience, and the house walkthrough was educational. The whole package was certainly worth the time and money. My only complaint is that the farmhouse walkthrough was too crowded; we spent too much time waiting for everyone to move between stations, and we didn't all fit in the same room, so not everybody got to see and hear everything. If the tour had capped the walkthrough more reasonably (at least on the driving tour there are limited seats), it would have been a bit more enjoyable. |

I would recommend this tour to anyone. It was very informative and we learned things about the Amish community that we never knew before. The tour guide was great. He knew everything and could answer all of our questions. The Amish families that we visited were very friendly. After the tour was over, my husband and I explored the area on our own. There were shops galore!!! We definitely will be returning to the area to spend more time there, as we did not get to see everything that they had to offer. Thanks for a memorable day!!! |

It was an opportunity to learn more about the Amish without imposing on them. The Narrator made the tour informative. |

We only had a couple of hours, so we chose the Farmland tour. It was a great way to experience the highlights about the Amish life. |

Unfortunately, there was a mixup with getting a rental car so I was not able to enjoy the complete tour I had paid for. I could only take part in the afternoon farmland bus tour. I did get to experience a taste (literally!) of the Amish world - shoofly pie and pretzels included. We were able to check out two Amish stores and one winery during the tour. What wonders the Pennsylvania Dutch have to share! The quality of the quilts, the quiet strength of the culture, all a blessing to behold. It encouraged me to take stock of things in my own life and see where I needed to simplify.
I do think a bus tour has it's ups and downs, so to speak. The guide has a lot to say and sometimes it's difficult to keep up - he would point out different interesting things but, by the time I figured whether said thing was on the left or the right, it was gone! I'm not quite sure why I couldn't partake of the house and theater tours - I was greatly blessed to get a ride from the bus driver to the train station which saved quite a bit of cash, but it would have been nice to see all I'd paid for.
For those of you not able to rent a car I recommend checking out the local bus and train - it can save quite a lot and be a bit of an adventure of it's own. We don't have that kind of transportation in my neck of the woods and I'm a bit jealous! Anyway, make the most of what's available to you - it's worth it.
As for the tour - it was a great experience but over far too quickly. I hope you get the opportunity to soak in the Amish culture at some time. These quiet people have a lot to offer the rest of us. |

My husband and I went on the tour. I would definately recommend it! The tour on the bus was informative and interesting. Anyone can drive in their car around the amish farmlands, however going on the bus with a tour guide was much more informative. The guide told us a lot of interesting facts that we otherwise would not have known. The movie was also very interesting. We also enjoyed the tour of the amish house. The tour guide their was also very interesting. |

My daughters and I had a wonderful time on the tour. We were able to spend some quality time together in a very relaxed atmosphere while seeing and learning first hand how these truly remarkable people live. We plan on returning again soon with the rest of the family. |

We thoroughly enjoyed the theater presentation and the bus tour. The guide provided us with useful and interesting information. The Homestead tour was also interesting, but the tour was rushed and the guide overpowered the presentation with her own political and personal views (e.g., about the US education system) instead of just telling us about the Amish and their belief system. We would have preferred a more objective presentation. |
