The Dolly Steamboat provides a relaxing yet informative tour of the terrain surrounding Canyon Lake, a man-made lake east of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area in the Superstition Mountains. The tourguide was informative to local flora and fauna, pointing out nearby predator birds and bighorn sheep off in the distance. The 90-minute tour was neither too short nor too long. The price of the tour is reasonable and discounts are offered for AAA members. |

We had a most relaxing and enjoyable ride 45 minutes up and 45 minutes back down Canyon Lake on the Dolly Steamboat. Music and narration accompanied us on the trip which enhanced our journey by describing some of the sights we could see on the mountainsides along the lake's edge. Snacks were available to be purchased...but we just sipped the water we brought with us and chatted softly as we sat comfortably around a table on the upper deck. I hope to go again in a year or two with my husband. |

Never did i believe that 1.5 hours could be so factual and interesting. The scenery was fantastic, as well as a great sailing and comfortale Ride. The big horn sheep and the eagles and other birds made this a very affordable experience. thank you. |

Our friends thanked us after the debarcation. The captain spoke well and made our trip so much more enjoyable, more that we expected.
The restaurant at the marina was great too. |

This is always first on our list of activities for visitors new to the area. People are always surprised that a dessert area has such a beautiful lake area. The only change I would make would be the boarding process. After making reservations via Zwerve including prepaying, we still had to queue up for over a half an hour to get out boarding number. Much like Southwest Airlines old system, if you don't get there early enough to stand in line for almost an hour, you end up boarding last. Not convenient. |

My parents were in town visiting from Chicago so my wife, 2 year old daughter and I booked us all tickets about 6 weeks in advance. It took us about 75 minutes to get there (from Maricopa) but it was worth it.
The ride was well-narrarted and we were lucky to go on such a beautiful day. I would take a group of out-of-town guests again, for sure.
The only word of advice (if you're particular about where you might sit on the ride--especially if you want to sit on the upper-part of the boat in the sun) is to make sure you get to the marina pretty early. We didn't know how the boat was boarded (in what order) and it turns out that you form a line at the ticket counter (even if you made reservations in advance). Once they open the ticket counter (about 30 minutes prior to departure) you are given numbered tickets; this is the order in which you board the boat. On a day like this, when it was cool, yet sunny, the uncovered, upper portion of the boat was the prime real estate.
Other than that, I have no other advice other than to go and enjoy.

We had a great time, enjoyed the captain and crew narration, and got to see some sheep. After being on a 4 hour tour via train, we like the 90 minute tour much better.
We will return. |

It was fine - a long curvy drive but otherwise ok. Not very informative narrative but ok. We would recommend it. |
