The cruise was neat, but we went to see the wildlife described in the ad. The temp
was in excess of 110 and the animals were smarter than we were to stay in their dens or in the shade. We saw one duck when we docked. |

I enjoyed meeting people from all over, and watching their fascination with Arizona and its various flora, and architecture. Particularly enjoyed this time of year when the centrury plants were in bloom.
Narrator did a great job describing the various scenes which would be seen in the canyon walls. |

Many years ago, I had taken my children on this Dolly Steamboat during spring break and we all thought it was fun. So finally, for Father's Day, 2 of the now adult kids and a granddaughter and I took my husband. Though we didn't see any animals like the kids and I did the first time, it was still a fun thing to do. The 2 adult kids are now talking about doing the dinner cruise.
The crew was friendly and helpful and the captain was informative and funny.
The granddaughter did have to wear a life vest which is to be expected but she didn't like it as it made her uncomfortable and hot. We did find out that if you are downstairs, the vest isn't needed.
Most surprising was the snack bar and the VERY reasonable prices.
We ended our trip by having lunch at the marina, again, very reasonably priced with a great menu.
We'd do it again but when it is cooler. |

I've lived in Arizona since 1968 and I can witness that the trip to and from Canyon Lake is one of the most scenic drives in Arizona. You can stop at the Gold Field Mine, a touristy 1800's style old west attraction, then meander on up the winding road to Canyon Lake. The scenery is breath-taking. Then there's the trip up into the canyons of Canyon Lake on the Dolly Steamboat. I once took a friend from Switzerland on this excursion and his comment on the way back out of the canyons, crossing the lake toward the marina was, "I've seen many beautiful places in my life, but this is the most beautiful place I have ever been." That comment came from a guy who has seen some very beautiful country. After the excursion, do not miss the next stop to the east, Tortilla Flat. It's "old west" to the max and they serve great burgers, BBQ, etc. You can make a day of it on this outing and come away thinking, "What a fantastic experience!" |

The crew on the Dolly did an oustanding job. They all very friendly. Being from "Minnesota Nice" country, this really meant a lot. I learned a lot of things about cactuses from Capt Tom that I never knew. I would recommend it to friends.

This is the second time within two months that I have taken this cruise. The first time I was so busy taking photos, that I didn't get to "see" a lot of things. This time, I sat back and totallly enjoyed the cruise. |

I took my parents, who were visiting from the South Carolina, on the Dolly Steamboat Cruise. What a wonderful 90 minutes spent on beautiful Canyon Lake. As we cruised around the lake our pilot told us about the plants, wildlife and amazing rock formations found on the lake. There were also many opportunities to take pictures, which we took advantage of.
This was a wonderful relaxing cruise that we all highly recommend. It's a great place to take your out-of-town visitors. Even if you don't have visitors check it out yourself. You''ll love it! |

The cruise provides some beautiful scenery, a relaxing break to the day, but after about 30 minutes (of a 90 minute cruise) you have seen it all. Narratives are provided by the tour guide fairly infrequently with most of the backdrop being an array of oldies or country songs. Coupled with a visit to Tortilla Flats for lunch, it was a nice excursion away from the metro area attractions. This tour is probably best suited for couples who will appreciate the scenery as my younger children (5 and 8) were bored shortly into the ride. |

Although the boat is clean and well-run, the narration was really lacking. I supose we were spoiled because a short while earlier we had taken a cruise on the Desert Belle on Saguaro Lake. That was captained by a retired US Geological Service scientist and he was able to tell us about the wildlife, gelolgy, plants and give us some historical stories. Also, the Desert Belle allows you to take on food and drink, and I wouldn't have minded not being allowed to take our on on this trip, but there was a very small selection.
If the narration could be improved so it was much more interesting, we would go again with guests. Otherwise I recommend the Desert Belle. |
