Enjoyed the trip and naration on Canyon Lake. Parking at the marina was hard on a Sunday with lots of people using the lake. |

The only thing that could be improved is the boarding process. We had reservations b ut still had to wait in line to get boarding pass, then wait again to get on boat. |

On my recent trip to AZ from NC, my Mom and I took the early afternoon Dolly Tour. The ride was so relaxing, informative and enjoyable. Captain Tom did a great job with the narrative of the tour and we enjoyed every minute. It is unbelieveable that such a beautiful place exists amongst the mountains. I would definiately take the tour again and consider the dinner tour next time. Thank you for providing a great activity at a reasonable price. Will see you again soon.

A great way to introduce out of town visitors to the beauty and grandeur of this state. Something for everyone. Relaxing boat ride, beautiful scenery, wildlife viewing, narrated with some humor and music. Take your camera, binnoculars, and your sense of appreciation for all that Arizona offers. |

This was our third trip on the Dolly. The last time we saw some big horned sheep climbing high in the rocks so we brought a camera and binoculars this time hoping we would get a chance to use them. We had reservations for the 2pm cruise because my wife volunteers at a hospital in Mesa and works till 1pm. We arrived at Canyon Lake at 1:50pm and received the last boarding pass. We ended up sitting in the cabin across from the bathroom. The location was terrible. We were on the port side and the captain, who was on the starboard side, did a nice job of narrating everything he observed on his right. We were unable to see much of anything this trip.
This is a good cruise, but you must arrive early if you want to sit in the upper deck or at a window on the starboard side. |

I enjoyed the tour of Canyon Lake, as did my 80 year old parents. It was interesting to hear about some of the formations, especially the stack of petrified trees. Captain tended to be a little too hocky for my taste, but overall it was enjoyable. We got there about 1/2 hour early, but were still at the end of the line, but ended up with the best seats on the boat. Sit right up front at the railing, we had front row seats. I wouldn't recommend those seats when it's 110 degrees tho! We had an 85 degree day and overcast, so it was perfect! |

I set this up for myself, my fiance, and my parents. My parents are at a point where extended walking and hiking just aren't an option.
We arrived 40 minutes early, and there was already a line waiting at the ticket booth. The booth opens at 30 minutes before the scheduled departure, and you board according to your boarding pass number (so it's first in line, first to board) My parents did the pre-boarding that they offer, so we did end up with nice seats.
The weather was perfect for us; overcast and mid-80's. We heard that the previous day, when it was sunny and in the mid-90's, it really was too hot to enjoy the top deck.
The captain does talk about the lake, the views, and other bits and pieces, but not excessively. The staff was friendly and courteous, and the boarding and end of the cruise were handled with a minimal amount of fuss.
The road to Canyon Lake is narrow, with a lot of tight corners. It would be challenging to travel that road in an RV! Give yourself extra time to get there, becuase you just can't go very fast on that road to make up lost time.
The snack bar on the boat had very limited concessions; water and popcorn were about all that was available. They do not allow you to take any food or beverages (except water) onto the boat with you.
I would certainly recommend this trip to anyone interested in seeing some lovely Arizona scenery! We were also fortunate enough to see 3 mountain sheep during our trip; most folks that I talked to about this said that they did not see much, if any, wildlife on their tours (mid-afternoon is a rotten time to see wildlife, in my opinion). |

I had taken a day off work for another activity but that didn't happen so I asked my friend from Phoenix, whom I "hang out with on Saturdays at my pool" if she'd be interested in going on this trip I just read about in the Tribune. She was all for that sence she'd lived here 18 years and never been to Canyon Lake. We had a very nice trip up there in the morning and visited with various people while waiting to get checked in for the ride.
I liked the fact that safety was addressed right from the start as I have been on other "cruises" such as this and not a thing was ever mentioned. There were not too many people on the boat, to say that only enough persons were allowed as there were seats for, no "standing room" situations.
Very nice crew, good "show and tell" and adiquit accommodations. Interesting history and sufficient time for photographs.
So very relaxing for me that I just lingered in my seat as most of the passengers debarked.
My husband is interested in going now so may be booking again soon.
Thank you for a very enjoyable time.
