| I had relatives here from Illinois and took them on this trip. It was a beautiful trip and narrated concisely and interestingly. I found no trouble with anything except the restaurant which may or may not be connected with you. We were told our food would be served right away. We told them that we were going on the Dolly trip. It didn't come so we left without eating. Perhaps the instructions you make in the advertising would say to get there long before the trip if eating was considered. Several people left with us which was too bad. Otherwise everything was just great and I'll recommend it to others in Mesa. | ||||||

Relaxing Ride through Beautiful Scenery

| The crew was very helpful. The boat is nicely appointed. The only negative comment relates to the method of lining up to get "boarding passes". It was rather haphazard. Things that might help would be a loud speaker system and/or signs that tell folks, upon arrival, what the procedure entails. | ||||||

| We had a handicapped person in a wheel chair and they are very accomodating for with special needs. The cruise is through verticle canyons and the captain pointed out numerous wildlife as we encountered them. We saw eagles, great blue herons and mountain goats along with many birds. We also learned about the desert plants. This is a very relaxing and informative ride. | ||||||

| All in our party enjoyed this cruise. The Captain and Crew were delightful and charming, and informative about pertinent information regarding the sights. It is an excellent outing for locals, with our without houseguests, and certainly highly recomended for visitors who know enough to venture up to Canyon Lake. It was a great time. Picnicked afterwards at one of the Forest Service picnic tables. Go! | ||||||

| It was very easy to buy the tickets through Zerve and the tour itself was great. I highly suggest going during the week as the lake can be quite busy with boaters and jet skis on the weekend. Much more peaceful during the week and probably a better chance of seeing Rocky Mountain Big Horns, which we saw 2 Mountain Rams. I took my friend's 9 year old daughter and met my sister's Mother-in-law and her friend who were visiting from Michigan. The staff was so great and took a great interest in making sure my friend's daughter had a great time and was safe. The captain was really cool and we had a great day. After the tour you can drive 2 miles further east on apache trail and hit Tortilla Flats Saloon for lunch or enjoy some live music and food out on the patio. Don't forget to bring binoculars, anything in 10x50 or 8x42 will work fine for you. Having binoculars will really enhance your enjoyment of the tour. | ||||||

| It was fine - a long curvy drive but otherwise ok. Not very informative narrative but ok. We would recommend it. | ||||||

| We had a great time, enjoyed the captain and crew narration, and got to see some sheep. After being on a 4 hour tour via train, we like the 90 minute tour much better. We will return. | ||||||

| My parents were in town visiting from Chicago so my wife, 2 year old daughter and I booked us all tickets about 6 weeks in advance. It took us about 75 minutes to get there (from Maricopa) but it was worth it. The ride was well-narrarted and we were lucky to go on such a beautiful day. I would take a group of out-of-town guests again, for sure. The only word of advice (if you're particular about where you might sit on the ride--especially if you want to sit on the upper-part of the boat in the sun) is to make sure you get to the marina pretty early. We didn't know how the boat was boarded (in what order) and it turns out that you form a line at the ticket counter (even if you made reservations in advance). Once they open the ticket counter (about 30 minutes prior to departure) you are given numbered tickets; this is the order in which you board the boat. On a day like this, when it was cool, yet sunny, the uncovered, upper portion of the boat was the prime real estate. Other than that, I have no other advice other than to go and enjoy. Jeff | ||||||

Perfect Introduction for Visitors

| This is always first on our list of activities for visitors new to the area. People are always surprised that a dessert area has such a beautiful lake area. The only change I would make would be the boarding process. After making reservations via Zwerve including prepaying, we still had to queue up for over a half an hour to get out boarding number. Much like Southwest Airlines old system, if you don't get there early enough to stand in line for almost an hour, you end up boarding last. Not convenient. | ||||||

Hello Dolly (Steamboat)

| We had a most relaxing and enjoyable ride 45 minutes up and 45 minutes back down Canyon Lake on the Dolly Steamboat. Music and narration accompanied us on the trip which enhanced our journey by describing some of the sights we could see on the mountainsides along the lake's edge. Snacks were available to be purchased...but we just sipped the water we brought with us and chatted softly as we sat comfortably around a table on the upper deck. I hope to go again in a year or two with my husband. | ||||||

| The Dolly Steamboat provides a relaxing yet informative tour of the terrain surrounding Canyon Lake, a man-made lake east of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area in the Superstition Mountains. The tourguide was informative to local flora and fauna, pointing out nearby predator birds and bighorn sheep off in the distance. The 90-minute tour was neither too short nor too long. The price of the tour is reasonable and discounts are offered for AAA members. | ||||||
