Highly Recommended even for group outing

Would like to salute Captain Tom, Nicole and the other assiatant (Upper Level) as well as the cooking staff for a wonderful evening cruise on the lake. The serenity and views were very relaxing and even more so with dinner. Our group of ten was seated in front of the boat taking in all the views and narrations by Captain Tom. I personally want to thank Nicole for the seating arrangement with my group as I feel she had gone the extra mile for me to impress my friends. In fact, I heard from my friends afterwards that they intend on bringing their family members when they visit onto the Dolly Cruise. One couple said, we have cruised the Dolly before, but never on a dinner cruise and this trip was fantastic with our friends being together. Just want to mention that while cruising, conversation among our group was at almost a standstill as we listen to the narration and enjoyed the beautiful views. The time went too fast for us.

Unique and Romantic

We were expecting a nice evening with some great views of a part of the lake that is seldom seen when driving by. We got a lot more than we expected. It far exceeded our expectations in more ways than one. The meal was excellent and the views were awe-inspiring. My girlfriend thought it was the most unique and romantic date that she has ever been on. Our thanks to the wonderful crew for an incredible evening.

Scenic, relaxing, but fairly vanilla

The cruise provides some beautiful scenery, a relaxing break to the day, but after about 30 minutes (of a 90 minute cruise) you have seen it all. Narratives are provided by the tour guide fairly infrequently with most of the backdrop being an array of oldies or country songs. Coupled with a visit to Tortilla Flats for lunch, it was a nice excursion away from the metro area attractions. This tour is probably best suited for couples who will appreciate the scenery as my younger children (5 and 8) were bored shortly into the ride.

Disappointing

Although the boat is clean and well-run, the narration was really lacking. I supose we were spoiled because a short while earlier we had taken a cruise on the Desert Belle on Saguaro Lake. That was captained by a retired US Geological Service scientist and he was able to tell us about the wildlife, gelolgy, plants and give us some historical stories. Also, the Desert Belle allows you to take on food and drink, and I wouldn't have minded not being allowed to take our on on this trip, but there was a very small selection. If the narration could be improved so it was much more interesting, we would go again with guests. Otherwise I recommend the Desert Belle.

Fun Trip

I planned this trip a couple months in advance for my husband's birthday; however, he was so sick that day and the trip wasn't as fun as anticipated. If I would have had a healthy partner I am sure I would have enjoyed myself more. The buffet dinner was really good, service was friendly, and the view was amazing, and the bathrooms were clean. We sat on the top deck with no covering - which was hard at the beginning of the cruise with the sun, but within 20 minutes we were facing the other way and had the open air and stars to gaze at. I would highly recommend this cruise as something "different" to do.

Sit in the shade...

If you don't have your own boat, and you love the Arizona lanscape then this cruise is a really nice way to go! If you burn...sit in the shade or wear SPF3000 as it is 90 minutes in the Arizona sun. As beautiful as the surrounding landscape and wildlife are to review, the sun will have little mercy on you. The narration was fine. It was a mixture of narration and then mood music. Personally, I would like to have had a little more education than mood music. But that is a difficult balance to strike and you can't please everyone... But for only around $20 I'd say the boat, the narration and the beautiful scenery are well worth your time. After the boat ride, you might want to consider continuing down the road a little further to Tortilla Flats and have lunch! That is an out of the way place that provides for a very interesting and satisfying conclusion to the afternoon.

Great Crew as well as scenery

Forgot my "e-ticket" but the crew was very understanding and accommodating. This canyon is our favorite for canoeing. The paddle boat was a wonderful way for us to share our love of this canyon with friends from Kentucky. The crew pointed out some big horn sheep right at the beginning of the trip and that set the tone for the entire 1-1/2 hour journey. The captain was friendly, knowledgable and the crew helpful and attentive. They'll willingly take over your camera for a photo! Food and drink available on board. Great trip. Do it!

Love the slow calm pace of the boat. The food was excellent. The staff provided a worry free evening and made the evening a pleasure. We saw bighorn sheep which was a treat. Would recommend the evening dinner cruise whole heartly!!!

Pricey
Sun, May 25, 08   2:00 PM jaqknife Male 30-39 Local Family With Children
I think for the price there should have been some complimentary beverages or snacks. Other than that the boat ride was fine. What bothered me was all the jet ski's and drunk idiots that kept buzzing around the boat that annoyed me. At one point there was a helicopter that did about several low flybys. Which made it difficult to enjoy the music or narration.

Great Scenery, Check-in Chaos
Sat, May 24, 08   2:00 PM smileymhs Male 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
The ride was lovely and there is some beuatiful things to see. We enjoyed the ride and Captain Tom. The boarding process is a bit of a disaster. You take the printout you get from Zerve to the window to get a numbered boarding pass. After watching people cut in line, we finally got our boarding passes numbered in the 40's. When boarding was called, they allowed those with special needs to board first then it was supposed to be by number. However, chaos erupted and people just stormed the captain and handed him their tickets. The captain seemed flustered and didn't even check the numbered tickets. We just got out of the way and were one of the last to board. I think they need more people to help with the process to keep everyone in line. If they don't intend to board in an organized fashion, they should just abandon the attempt and get rid of the numbered tickets.
