Want to Relax

This is by far the best way to relax and to see some great scenery on the lake. The cruise was fantastic and the food as well. We go whenever we have the chance as this is just a great way to relax and undwind. We like taking friends with us to show them the natural beauty Arizona has to offer. We will continue to go as the opportunity arises. Well worth the price and very organized.

Relaxing and Highly Enjoyable

The twilight dinner cruise we took in March had the best weather Arizona has to offer. The views of the lake and surrounding canyon were delightful...we even saw some spectacular big horn sheep high on the canyon wall. The staff were great and the food was filling and good.

Relaxing Cruise
Sat, Mar 29, 08   2:00 PM dccoff2000 Male 30-39 Combination Group of Friends
Our cruise was on a very pleasant 80F day at the end of March '08. It is recommended that you arrive 30 minutes early as they give you a boarding number based on when you check in. Earlier equals better seating. Canyon Lake provided some nice desert scenery of the rock formations and high cliffs on either side. We didn't see much wildlife on our trip apart from a few hawks, but the way the lake twists and turns through the canyon walls was quite spectacular. There was more personal watercraft than I expected on the lake, but for the most part it wasn't that noisy and the other boaters were friendly. Jeff, the captain was informative and funny in a corny way. I'm sure he's done his routine dozens of times. On board the boat are chips and drinks for sale at a reasonable price. They allow only water bottles to be brought on board. Our cruise was full and consisted of families with children, senior citizens and grandparents, and a few people in their thirties. The cruise is advertised as 90 minutes but I calculated more like 75 as we left a bit late and arrived slightly early.

Great time, good value and friendly crew!

I reserved the trip and paid on-line the night before, arrived early with the camera, binoculars and water that your website suggested and waited in the shade overlooking the lake on the benches provided. The only small hitch was the confusing sign on the window that seemed to say that they were not running again that day so a few people were worried and there was no one there to explain until the boat returned from the earlier cruise. Overall, I plan to take others on the boat and probably try th dinner cruise some day. I went near the end of March and the weather was near perfect for the 4:00 pm cruise. The crew were helpful, friendly and kept us laughing and looking as they pointed out sights and gave good history information mixe with a few jokes. Good job!

Beautiful and Relaxing Boat Ride

My wife and I really enjoyed the boat ride. It was very informative and a great experience in Arizona. Normally, you think of Arizona as the hot and dry desert but this showed the beauty of the canyons and lake. Gerry & Vicki Saint Louis, MO

Returned in the dark.

The only thing I would change about this cruise is that with about a hour to go it was already dark. Would like to have had it light for the whole trip. Otherwise it was great. The captain was great, the crew was great and the food was great.

Birthday Presents - Dinner Cruise
Sat, Mar 22, 08   5:30 PM kschroth Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
We took our Mom and Dad for there birthdays - The cruise was very well ran. I am fairly critical of service related industries but these guys did great! The captain was knowledgable and informative, but not annoying. The staff was available but not in your face. The food (Which is what I was there for :-) was great. The Filet Mignon was tasty and tender (I like mine rarer but they need to cook for the majority and at least it wasn't well done - I would say med / med rare), the chicken was moist, the potatoe was perfect as was the warm apple pie. We had an absolute blast and would recomend this dinner cruise to anyone. I highly recommend the top deck / uncovered for seating. When the sun goes down, there is little light adding to the atmoshere and there were several pairs of smoochers aboard. For the atmosphere and the food - It's a 10 ! The ONLY thing I would say needed any work, was someone up front to answer questions a few minutes before the window opens. People are left to figure it for themselves and I saw some older folks get confused. Thanks for a great time.

Great Time, Crew Was Great, Food Was Good.
Sat, Mar 22, 08   5:30 PM paulschee Male 40-49 Local Family Without Children
My parents enjoyed having their 80th birthday celebrated on the Dolly. The whole family really enjoyed themselves. Captain Tom was great, had excellent information to share on AZ, the lake, and wildlife. The food was good. I would have said great, but it was inconsistent. My steak was perfectly cooked. My wife's was cooked to long and was consequently dry. Overall a great experience.

Great trip and meal only without walls
Sat, Mar 22, 08   5:30 PM knessr Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
I had booked four of us on this dinner cruise. It was my parents 58th wedding anniversary and we wanted to do something special for them. The weather was perfect - the meal was great. My parents told me after the cruise that it had been a long time since they had enjoyed themselves as much as they had this night.

A great look at off-the-road Arizona
Sat, Mar 22, 08   2:00 PM rluomar Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The Dolly ride through the canyon took us to breathtaking views we can't see on a drive., and Captain Tom had interesting things to say about the rock formations, the wildlife and the history of the canyon. We didn't see the mountain sheep, who probably preferred shade on an 80-degree afternoon. It wasn't the Grand Canyon but it was grand in its up-close and magnificently beautiful way.

i wouldn't know how the cruise was because the directions we were given never lead us to the boat! we drove around apache junction and nearby towns/ villages for nearly a hour, searching for the road to the marina. we asked the state park ranger for directions, only to have our head bitten off and sent in the opposite direction. we then stopped at the ghost town, the name i cannot remember correctly, and had a wonderful time there for a short time. it does not take that much to slap up a billboard on the road. either that or slap up a simple sign with arrows or something to that nature. overall, i hope the steamboat enjoyed my donation since there are no refunds on tickets. the surrounding sites were nice. the drive up the mountain road was spectacular with beautiful views. susperstition mtns are amoung the awe inspiring mountains in arizona. if anyone takes this trip, allow yourself ample time to search for the place. locals don't help, the directions are sketchy and understated and there are plenty of things to do nearby other than this tour.
