Nature cruise

The Dolly was outstanding. If you book online, you don't have to pay cash at point of sale. The Wild Flowers are fantastic, and saw Hawks and long horn sheep. Don't forget to bring sun screen if you go, and bring your Chicago accents for the Captain of the boat. Adios and happy trails to all.

Our family enjoyed the scenery and the ride. I believe that my 4 and 5 year old if more animals had been present visually, however it was still an enjoyable aftenoon.

My 90 year old father and I took the 2:PM cruise. The Dolly was in top condition as they had just refurbished her. Jeff the Skipper was very entertaining with his wit and knowledge of the area. Cindi and Janet the crew members were great also. It was our 2nd time in 6 years on the cruise. Mike Coulter

Restful Mini-Cruise

The lake cruise was very restful which was exactly what I and my lady friend wanted. We would have liked to have the cruise enhanced with a more informative narrative -- one which gave us more detailed information on the lake's formation and explained how the present owners established their cruise company.

Everyone in our group was thrilled with the cruise. Jeff did a great job at the helm and with the narration. We will do it again, next time for the dinner cruise.

A very nice day -- a beautiful drive to the lake, a delightful boat ride, good food at Tortilla Flats. Overall a great day -- convenient to Phoenix.

This was a great relaxing time. The kids got a little antsy towards the end - but walking around the boat fixed that.

The cruise was very good, Capt Tom's narrative was clear and useful. A little more of the Geology would be good. Dinner was excellent, both food and service. The Astronomy section was good though a little less self-promotion and more Astronomy would be an improvement. The cruise was sufficiently interesting that we plan to take an afternoon cruise.

The Dolly Steamboat provides a relaxing yet informative tour of the terrain surrounding Canyon Lake, a man-made lake east of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area in the Superstition Mountains. The tourguide was informative to local flora and fauna, pointing out nearby predator birds and bighorn sheep off in the distance. The 90-minute tour was neither too short nor too long. The price of the tour is reasonable and discounts are offered for AAA members.

Never did i believe that 1.5 hours could be so factual and interesting. The scenery was fantastic, as well as a great sailing and comfortale Ride. The big horn sheep and the eagles and other birds made this a very affordable experience. thank you.

Our friends thanked us after the debarcation. The captain spoke well and made our trip so much more enjoyable, more that we expected. The restaurant at the marina was great too.

Well worth the trip...

My parents were in town visiting from Chicago so my wife, 2 year old daughter and I booked us all tickets about 6 weeks in advance. It took us about 75 minutes to get there (from Maricopa) but it was worth it. The ride was well-narrarted and we were lucky to go on such a beautiful day. I would take a group of out-of-town guests again, for sure. The only word of advice (if you're particular about where you might sit on the ride--especially if you want to sit on the upper-part of the boat in the sun) is to make sure you get to the marina pretty early. We didn't know how the boat was boarded (in what order) and it turns out that you form a line at the ticket counter (even if you made reservations in advance). Once they open the ticket counter (about 30 minutes prior to departure) you are given numbered tickets; this is the order in which you board the boat. On a day like this, when it was cool, yet sunny, the uncovered, upper portion of the boat was the prime real estate. Other than that, I have no other advice other than to go and enjoy. Jeff
