of our group of 10, 4 of us had enjoyed the dinner cruise before so we knew what to expect. we recommended it to our friends and they, i am very sure, will recommend it to their families and friends. we are all seniors and inclined to be super critical, but it was a flawless evening, with absolutely nothing to complain about. just how rare is that? thanks for a wonderful time! we very enthusiastically recommend it to all who enjoy the water, scenery, nature, and the great outdoors.

We winter in Arizona and when people come to visit us we always make it a point to take them on the Dolly Steamboat ride. Our first year that we visited Arizona we took the ride and enjoyed it tremendously. So now this is one of the things we plan for them to do.

Nice relaxing ride
Sat, Aug 29  12:00 PM mmshaw Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We particularly enjoyed the winding road that leads to the lake. Very European in nature. The crew was very cordial, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The ride is very slow but enjoyed the landscape and just relaxing. We were hoping to see some big horn sheep as advertised but found out that it was too hot for them to be out and about on the day that we were there. This was on Aug. 29, 2009. So, a little disappointed but still enjoyed the ride. If you have small children you will have to work to keep them from getting a little bored. We had our 8 year old grandson and his dad with us. He did pretty well but I needed to show some excitement about the fauna and rock formations from time to time to keep him from getting too bored. He really wanted to be on one of the wave runners that were running about. He did enjoy the trip though.

We had a wonderful time. What a majestic way to see Arizona. My husband and I live in Arizona and we brought friends along who were visiting from Pennsylvania. They were in awe of the natural beauty Arizona had to offer. From the staff to the Captain everything was perfect. The dinner that was served was superb. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Thank you for the hospitality and a wonderful experience.

This was our second time on the Dolly, and again it was an enjoyable experience. It is a great way to see the beauty that Arizona holds. A great way to spend a hour or two.

Nice family activity.

We went in July - a bit on the warm side, but the ride was fun, scenery nice, and the crew was friendly. All in all, a pleasant afternoon. If you're looking for things to do when friends visit from out-of-town, give it a try. We'll do the evening cruise next . . .

Really nice, local activity - great change of pace

This is an activity everyone can enjoy . It's a nice change of pace from "city activities" and is within pretty easy commute reach. I am not sure I would take the dinner cruise again as it was a little distracting from the amazing views and surroundings...who wants to eat dinner when there's so much to see?!?. I've taken both cruises and enjoyed the 90-minute cruise more for this reason.

Tour Should be Earlier in the Morning
Sun, Oct 18  12:00 PM mjskov61 Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Unfortunately, at 12:00 pm, in the heat of the day, you are not going to see wildlife. Everyone mentioned that they were suprised that the tour wasn't offered earlier, especially due to AZ heat. Otherwise, everyone seemed to enjoy the tour.

Great relaxing time

This was a great relaxing time. The kids got a little antsy towards the end - but walking around the boat fixed that.

Wonderful evening with friends. Good meal, professional crew, informative tour of the lake. All in all it was much more pleasant than anticipated. A great evening activity for all and especially for out of town guests.

Great day on the lake

It was a very enjoyable day with the captain and crew being very knowledgeable. The only thing I would change is the way the guests are loaded onto the boat. Numbers really do not mean anything when everyone is crowded around the gate and the first 25 get to go on. They should be loaded according to number, the first 10 at a time. It's not going to take any longer and it makes it more fair. Otherwise all you have to do is get in line first and you're on as the captain really doesn't look at your number either.

Relaxing

My husband and I have been on this cruise twice now, once just the two of us and this time as a group. Both times were amazing. It is such a relaxing and refreshing time. The food is great as well as the service. This is something that we recommend to many and will continue to do in the future. Great job!

Worth the price, overall enjoyable. Some tips....

The upper deck was hot in the sun but you saw more height during the cruise. The lower deck was comfortable in the shade and the inside cabin had padded seats. Both upper and lower decks had shade and sun seating available. The snackbar was a nice option to have as you could only bring bottled water on the boat. The director did a nice job of describing what we were seeing. A herd of big horn sheep was the highlight of the afternoon. A bald eagle and nest was too far for a good photo but beautiful to watch. I would go back after a good rain to see the natural waterfalls. The noon trip seemed less crowded than the 2pm departure. Bring sunblock! It was nice to be able to walk about the boat but please be respectful of the people sitting behind you. You have tables with chairs that seat 2 to 6 and there was enough standing room in the back of the boat to be comfortable. We arrived 30 min. early and that was plenty of time. You are issued a boarding pass in the order you arrive so if you want to be first on the boat come at least an hour early, but be prepared to sit and wait. There is a covered seating area while you wait and a snack area that you can buy ice cream or other snacks while you wait to board. The boat was clean and safe. The staff was friendly. We got to sit with a nice couple at our table and overall the trip was enjoyable. Binoculars and camera with a good zoom is a good idea to bring along. State law requires all children to wear a life jacket during the cruise so if your little ones are very mobile or don't like wearing the life jacket, get a sitter. There was a mom that didn't enjoy the cruise at all because her active 4 year old wouldn't sit without disturbing those around him and kept trying to remove the life vest. Other than feeling her frustration as a mom it was very relaxing. Nice, soothing music played in the background and we felt like we really got away for the day. We went during April so the weather was perfect, high of 85 and a nice cool breeze. Any warmer might have made it less enjoyable. We are looking forward to coming back with our boat and spending the weekend with the kids. A great way to check out the lake and decide if you want to come back. We recommend this boat tour.
