Sit in the shade...

If you don't have your own boat, and you love the Arizona lanscape then this cruise is a really nice way to go! If you burn...sit in the shade or wear SPF3000 as it is 90 minutes in the Arizona sun. As beautiful as the surrounding landscape and wildlife are to review, the sun will have little mercy on you. The narration was fine. It was a mixture of narration and then mood music. Personally, I would like to have had a little more education than mood music. But that is a difficult balance to strike and you can't please everyone... But for only around $20 I'd say the boat, the narration and the beautiful scenery are well worth your time. After the boat ride, you might want to consider continuing down the road a little further to Tortilla Flats and have lunch! That is an out of the way place that provides for a very interesting and satisfying conclusion to the afternoon.

We find Dolly Steamboat is a fun activity for visitors and the kids (ages 6 and 7) liked it too. We enjoy eating lunch at the marina in combination with the ride.

I was sick so my husband and our daughter and son-in-law went on the ride and found it to be very interesting. They are from out of town and it was a treat for them to learn about the area.

We had a group of 11 family and friends from various states visiting ...... this boat tour was fabulous and a great way to introduce our loved ones to the awe inspiring Arizona views. Even better is that the location is so close to home. Captain Tom was entertaining as he provided geographical and historical information. The staff were very pleasant and the weather was perfect. Everyone left feeling relaxed, awed, and excited about the venture. Thanks for the great experience!

We Had a Fun Afternoon

This is the second time we have taken The Dolly. We had relatives visiting from Kansas and thought this would be a nice, fun and relaxing outing to let them see what a desert lake is all about. They loved the scenery and formations and being on The Dolly. We highly recomend this trip, young children don't really have much fun and we had a couple of crying babies and toddlers who almost got to be too much. That is to be expected and we understand that, but maybe families with small children should think twice before correlling them in such small quarters and plus the fact they had to wear life jackets which they did not like. Thank you very much for a nice afternoon and we will be back for the dinner cruise this summer. That sounds like a very enjoyable evening. Lenora Franklin Glendale, Az 85303

Love the slow calm pace of the boat. The food was excellent. The staff provided a worry free evening and made the evening a pleasure. We saw bighorn sheep which was a treat. Would recommend the evening dinner cruise whole heartly!!!

Beautiful evening

This was a wonderful thing to do with out of town family. The food was adequate. The group in charge of the boat were very organized and informative and the Captain made the event quite entertaining. We saw big horn sheep and many beautiful birds. It would be so much more enjoyable without the wait in line for the boarding passes. Given you must prepay, it would be more pleasant to print a boarding pass at home and not have the frantic begining to such a lovely evening. We were disappointed that we did not get seated where we requested. Still, a wonderful event.

Pleasantly Surprised!!!!!

After reading some of the recent reviews we honestly did not want to get our hopes up. We had prepared ourselves to get lost, be subjected to inadequate customer service, poor quality food and unimpressive narration during the trip. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! I have lived in AZ for over 28 years and thought I had been everywhere and done everything there was to do. THIS WAS A WONDERFUL TREAT!!! From the moment we drove up until we returned to our car we received nothing but far above average service. We had thought that since it was Memorial Day weekend there might have been problems. On the contrary. This group of professionals works magic on this cruise. We arrived about an hour and a half early but were able to sit under an awning, eating ice cream until the tour window opened. We got exactly the seat we requested but I think anywhere on the boat would be fine. Our captain (Captain TOM) was beyond words. The man is a pure delight! Full of information and stories which were easy to hear and understand. The music he chose was relaxing and clever (Pirates of the Caribbean Theme). I'm sure everyone appreciated the consideration he displayed regarding making sure both sides of the boat could view geologic features and the desert bighorn sheep. We were expecting the food to be average at best. It was great!!! Plenty to drink, plenty of ice. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. We had prime rib done perfectly .......we've paid much more which tasted much worse. The salad was pretty plain but did the job. The apple pie was yummy and finished the meal just right. This crew of folks worked their fingers off!!! They are to be congratulated!!! I feel like this cruise is a well kept secret we had the fortune to discover! Thank you for such a wonderful evening. We are hoping to take the astronomy tour sometime soon! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Pricey
Sun, May 25, 08   2:00 PM jaqknife Male 30-39 Local Family With Children
I think for the price there should have been some complimentary beverages or snacks. Other than that the boat ride was fine. What bothered me was all the jet ski's and drunk idiots that kept buzzing around the boat that annoyed me. At one point there was a helicopter that did about several low flybys. Which made it difficult to enjoy the music or narration.

Great Scenery, Check-in Chaos

The ride was lovely and there is some beuatiful things to see. We enjoyed the ride and Captain Tom. The boarding process is a bit of a disaster. You take the printout you get from Zerve to the window to get a numbered boarding pass. After watching people cut in line, we finally got our boarding passes numbered in the 40's. When boarding was called, they allowed those with special needs to board first then it was supposed to be by number. However, chaos erupted and people just stormed the captain and handed him their tickets. The captain seemed flustered and didn't even check the numbered tickets. We just got out of the way and were one of the last to board. I think they need more people to help with the process to keep everyone in line. If they don't intend to board in an organized fashion, they should just abandon the attempt and get rid of the numbered tickets.

I took my Deaf students on the tour & we all loved it! One cannot truly appreciate the lake fully without seeing the grand views from Steamboat Dolly as she glides you through the beautiful canyons. The narration was very informative and intensely fascinating! I recommend this tour for all ages!!!
