90 Minutes of beauty and relaxation
Sat, May 5, 07   2:00 PM MrsWeekly Female 60-69 Local Unspecified
We have lived in Mesa for 19 years and had never taken this boat trip. Friends were visiting from Colorado and we were looking for a way to "show" them Arizona. Even though they live in the beautiful Rocky Mountains they were awed by the beauty of the canyon and enjoyed the relaxing ride. We all had such a good experience. We will be doing this again for sure.

Enjoyable and so relaxing

All four of us so enjoyed the scenic trip around Canyon Lake. The captain was quite informative and had a great sense of humor. We found the Dolly Steamboat very clean and it was so quiet and relaxing on the 90 minute trip. Everyone was quite professional. I would definetly reccomend this for family and friends.

Breath-taking Natural Beauty!!!

The only "negative" we encountered on this otherwise GREAT experience, was the Slooooooow service at the marina's restaurant. We ordered 2 cups of that day's soup special, which we thought would be "quick" to fill... 30-minutes later our soup specials arrived??? Fortunately, this did not remove our positive memories of our nature cruise on Canyon Lake!!! Thank You for allowing us such input for future service improvements. Sincerely, Windsor, California Couple (Sonoma County's Wine Country)

more geology

A tour of Canyon Lake would be an ideal context in which to deliver an informal lecture on the area's geology. Instead, we get imaginative interpretations of rock formations, e.g. this one is J.S. Bach, that one's an elephant, etc.

An enjoyable and relaxing evening.

Your sunset cruise was very enjoyable. The staff was excellent and the food was delicious. The Captains comments and knowledge of the area were appreciated and at times humorous. The scenery – awesome! It's a great way to spend an evening with the atmosphere of a dinner cruise, the scenery and a time of relaxation and enjoyment. While we were not with any group, just my wife and myself, we will definitely schedule another cruise sometime in the future when back in the area. We have already recommended it to some of our friends.

A most enjoyable dinner cruise. The captain's narration was excellent. Just enough, not too much. The music selection was perfect for the occasion. Staff was helpful and pleasant. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.

We had a group of family visit us from the midwest and the group ranged in age from 33 to 67 and was comprised of male and female. The total experience was positive. The boat was comfortable and the narration was audible and informative with breaks filled with serene music to accompany the beauty of nature. The length of the tour was perfect for all of us. We all highly recommend this tour.

Cruise was good, food overcooked!

The cruise was very interesting & the scenery was excellent. We sat on the upper deck which is covered, so it was warm inside. The food served was bacon wrapped filet with a baked potatoe and vegtables. This menu was proper for the occasion but the steak was overcooked & dry.

More Geological Information
Wed, Apr 18, 07   12:00 PM thomasarnold Male 60-69 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I would have liked more geological information - there were rock formations that were not discussed. Why different colours of rocks, why do some rocks protrude over others? A map of the trip would have been nice - I would also have liked to go further up the river is possible. No discussion on how and why the lakes were formed although dam was talked about. Also we would have liked to have bought souveniers but did not realize they ould not be available once the boat stopped. Souveniers on shore would have been nice. A great trip and great day! Thanks

Great Outing For All
Mon, Apr 16, 07   2:00 PM pschwend Female 60-69 Local Family With Children
We enjoyed the Dolly and Canyon Lake. We had 13 people with a range of age from 90 years down to 6 years. All ages enjoyed the outing. Our guests were relatives from Germany who did not speak English. They had a great time even though they could not understand much of the Captain's description of the area. The Captain was very interesting. The Dolly was comfortable. You might bring a light coat or wrap in the evening or in spring or fall as there was a slight wind in the main lake area. If you have the time, visit Tortilla Flat also. The food there was pretty good and the museum and things to see were wonderful.

Our narrated cruise started promptly at 12.00 . We couldn't have picked a better day weather wise. The scenery was great. We saw a few long horn sheep. Got some great pictures. The narration was excellent. We totally enjoyed the 90 minute cruise. I was with my 14 year old granddaughter and her friend . They really enjoyed it too. It was a very nice experience and I would highly recommend it.

Just a great trip. Capt Tom was the best. We saw two different groups of big horn sheep. This was our second voyage and will do it again.

The views were wonderful and the guide giving the narrative was great. The weather could not have been better Thursday, April 12. My family enjoyed being out on the water, relaxing, and taking in the mountain scenery and the big horn sheep.

What a great evening! We were suprised that you could find such beautiful water related scenary so close to the metro area of Phoenix. Although the road up is a bit adventursome the trip is worth it. A fun ride with lots to see and a fantastic meal followed by a tranquile cruise through amazing canyon walls. Wait until its dark and the stars come out. Try It - You'll Like It!

Enjoyable but could have be much better
Fri, Apr 6, 07   5:30 PM vernesue Female 60-69 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
1. For those with food problems, it's helpful for the catering staff to know the contents of what they serve (eg, I could not have the dessert because the ingredients were unknown and there was only the one dessert). 2. It was supposed to be a buffet which to me means that there is a choice of foods. I can't each beef, so asked for two small pieces of chicken - the server was not all polite about it. 3. We were served very soon after boarding. It seems to me it would be better to be able to enjoy the scenery for a bit - while it's still light. Instead, a lot of our time to enjoy the scenery was in the dark (really hard to take pictures). 4. The captain and the gal were friendly and hospitable. The only thing in regard to the captain would be to have more narration (eg, history of and facts about the boat; greater depth of information about the area, its inhabitants, its vegetation; etc.
