Canyon Lake Cruise, with a group and family.
Tue, Apr 3, 07   4:00 PM RonPedone Female 60-69 Local Family With Children
Our first cruise was with a group of srs. and we truly enjoyed the 1pm cruise . We ate lunch in the restaurant and then took the cruise. Then my daughter and two grandchildren came in one child is 10yrs old and an avid swimmer on a swim team in Michigan he was told he and his 12 yr old sister who also is an avid swimmer, that they were required to wear those bulky orange life jackets they did not enjoy the cruise because of it both of the childrens backs were soaking wet from the hot sun and they were truly miserable they sat quiely during the entire cruise. They both looked very unhappy since they thought it was going to be wonderful..The grandson said I would be able to save myself before all those old people could save themselves and how true and he said they do not have to wear a life jacket. Then we took the dinner cruise with our other daughter , husband and 8 yr old son. Well he was told while he was sitting he could take the life jacket off but when he was up walking around he had to wear the life jacket so two different situations and the night cruise was far cooler than the middle of the sunny day. So there you have it . This will be the story I will have to pass on. Thanks again we as adults did enjoy the cruise. We did not have to wear the life jackets.

We all (4 of us) absolutely loved the tour. The young man at the controls and narrating was excellent. He has the perfect voice for this tour. Seating accommodations were fine. We will take our friends on the tour whenever they visit us in Arizona. (this was our third time with guests)

Good scenery, lacklustre narration
Tue, Apr 3, 07   12:00 PM edbergey Male 60-69 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Compared with many other scenic trips of this type, we found the narration lacking in depth and enthusiasm. More history of the dam, it's construction, impact on the valley and the environment could have been included. Also lacking was comprehsive local history--settlements, natives, superstitions, tall tales. Scenery is incredible but isn't spectacular enough to overcome the disappointing commentary. We have enjoyed similar tours in the southern US, Alaska, Egypt, NZ and Australia--this one let us down.

The children really enjoyed the ride and everything the narrator had pointed out to them for their observation. Thanks again.

Very enjoyable

The weather was great and we were very informed about the canyon. The one thing that I did NOT like was the Smoking-- would have liked to go back and see the wheel but people always standing there smoking... This was my 4th time I have went on this.Always taking friends and relatives to see the canyon. You should give a free pass to people who always bring you new customers. I enjoy the music that you play while we were on the cruise.

Top Notch

Very well done from start (reservations) to finish (the Captain saying farewell to all.) The Dolly is immaculate & well-maintained...a nice assortment of refreshments for sale if you desired & cold water if you didn't. The Dolly folks can't take credit for the drop-dead-gorgeous scenery - but they take great advantage of it. I did think the Captain's April Fool's stunt could be pumped up a bit. Mountain lions? C'mon. "Pirates of Canyon Lake" would have been cool. (If you need a volunteer April Fool Coordinator for next year let me know. Mine was spectacular that morning: After all the family got settled in the car I looked at my confirmation email & groaned that I had made the reservations for the day before:-)

Cruising Is As Close As Canyon Lake
Sun, Mar 25, 07   2:00 PM simba1969 Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
Thinking about a cruise yet not ready to stay for eleven nights with thousands of passengers? Then start with 'Dolly Steamboat' and see the majesty and beauty along Canyon Lake. The crew are polite, knowledgeable and have a flair for comedy. So, pack your camera, hat, water and climb aboard for the most spectacular 90 minutes you could spend with someone special, family and friends!

Well worth your time
Fri, Mar 23, 07   2:00 PM EllenZ Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We thoroughly enjoyed this boat ride on Canyon Lake. The ship engines were quiet which allowed everyone to soak up the calm and serernity of the surroundings. The captain did a good job selecting music to enhance the mood. Gliding right up next to high cliffs was a perspective that couldn't be experienced any other way. Unfortunately, we didn't see any wildlife, but the captain was adept at pointing out other features of interest. I might have liked a bit more narrative about the history of the area since we are newcomers to Arizona, but would recommend this trip to all ages.

We truly enjoyed the boat ride through Canyon Lake in Arizona. The weather was perfect, the captain gave us a good narration of the area and the history. We particularly liked the beautiful music they played during the quiet times between sites. My wife and I would recommend this to any other couple or a group of friends as a wonderful outing.
