Peaceful Scenic Dinner and Cruise

The dinner and cruise on the Dolly was a great experience. The crew was friendly and efficient. The views were spectacular and the colors beautiful. The captain gave a talk about the lake, canyon, and plants which we enjoyed. We loved the evening cruise because it also gave views of the stars and moon. The moon reflecting in the currents of the water was beautiful and gave a very relaxing atmosphere. Music was played during the dinner and cruise which also added to the wonderful experience. The dinner was very good. We will be taking more dinner cruises with friends and family!

Great Time at the Lake

Our 15-year-old grandson was visiting us for a week from Illinois, and we added the Dolly Steamboat to his itinerary as we traveled around the state. We enjoyed the cruise and the sights...sort of a quiet time for a 15-year-old after a week of hurried activity. We will do this again.

A Very Beautiful Trip
Sat, Nov 1, 08   12:00 PM Sharmell Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
This was a beautiful trip and a very friendly crew. We had a beautiful day. It was very picturesque. Although the boat was handicapable, the restroom was not for wheelchairs. You can buy light snacks on board. There is a snackbar you can buy food at before or after the cruise. We did not go in there, so I can not say what they had or what kind of prices they had. We chose to go the the Mining Camp Restaurant. You pass the turnoff for it on your way to the Dolly. The food there is wonderful and served family style on aluminum mining plates. Both are wll worth the money.

The boat ride gave us beautiful views and the narrative was light hearted and the music appealing. The staff were friendly and seemed interested in explaining things to you. We may come again to enjoy the ride another time.

I live here in AZ. I had a friend visitng from out of state. Shared with her the beauty of the state. Close by, so we chose Canyon Lake for a days adventure. Enjoyed out time.

Where was the "narative"?
Sun, Oct 26, 08   12:00 PM papalesso Female 50-59 Local Unspecified
As this was a "nature" cruise, I felt very let down that there was so very little information learned during the cruise. The opportunity to instruct about the geology, local history, as well as the wildlife, flora and fauna of the area would have made the time tremendously informative and was seriously lacking. I've been on various cruises that did the above in other areas and you are missing a wonderful opportunity. (Beside the captains tips would grow accordingly!) As it is now, it's bring a deck of cards....because otherwise there is little else to do.

Very nice!

Me, my mom and my brother enjoyed this cruise last weekend. It is a little pricy, but if you are looking for a nice relaxing time at the lake, this is it. You definitly want to go when the weather is really nice, because you are not guaranteed a shaded seat. The scenery is fabulous and the tour guide points out really amazing things in the rock formations. Calming music is lightly played as you enjoy the experience and it does last for about 90 minutes. I could only imagine what the dinner cruise is like! I would definitley recommend the cruise.

Pleasant Day

I enjoyed the cruise, it was an enjoyable day spent with my sister. The drive to Canyon Lake was also an enjoyable. It allowed us to see the variety of cactus and other vegetation. I don't think that it would be very fun for groups with young children.

Relaxing and beautiful

The narration provided valuable insight into the history and reasons for the beauty surrounding us. Because the trip on the water was calm, it was possible to engage in meaningful discussion with our family members.

Great Scenic Cruise

While the "Narrated Nature Cruise on Canyon Lake" was extremely scenic, beautiful and relaxing, it is not properly described. It should be labeled a Scenic Cruise of Canyon Lake. The narration was minimal! There was a short description of the dam, a comment that if you see any wildlife, please let the captain know, and he did point out some petrified wood. There was no other "narration". Oh, wait, he did point out several rock formations-ET, Indian Princess and last, but not least, Mozart. Mozart was accompanied with some pipe organ music which would have scared away any wildlife in the area! While we enjoyed the cruise immensely, there was no narration about the history of the area, the flora and fauna or anything else remotely "nature".

My Cruise Experience

We (friends and family) had a great time. Before our 2:00 PM cruise, we enjoyed lunch at the cantina, next door. Good, polite service and we had no complaints about the food. The cruise was well organized. The Captain (narrator) was knowledgeable, polite and had the perfect voice for narration. The scenery was an amatuer photographer's dream. The mood was calm and relaxed. The only thing missing was wildlife. Perhaps it was due to the time of year or the time of day, but it was missed. Go! Take pictures, create a memory and enjoy!

Trip to Canyon Lake for Dolly Steamboat cruise
Sat, Oct 25, 08   12:00 PM FRITZ101 Male 70+ Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
It's about a two hour drive from Oro Valley, Az. to Canyon Lake. It is a easy drive except for last 15 or so miles. This section from Apache Junction to Canyon Lake is loaded with curves that slows down the drive. . The cruise on the lake is very picturesque. We had a good sunny, not too hot day. The canyon walls facing the lake are fantastique. Only distraction was the background music over the speaker system. The narrations by the crew were good.Overall a great trip. .
