Dolly Steamboat ride June 2008
Wed, Jun 18, 08   12:00 PM dbead47 Female 60-69 Local Group of Friends
We had family visiting from the east coast this year and took them for a ride on Dolly. Even though it was pretty hot that day, the breeze we felt while on the boat was really nice. The music in the background, the narration from the captain, the scenery, and the slow pace of the boat was very relaxing and interesting. This was my fifth excursion on Dolly and I find something new to enjoy on every trip. I highly recommend this trip any time of the year for local residents and especially for visitors.

The weather was so HOT

The cruise was neat, but we went to see the wildlife described in the ad. The temp was in excess of 110 and the animals were smarter than we were to stay in their dens or in the shade. We saw one duck when we docked.

The cruize was very enjoyable. I would reccomend that people don't go when the temperature in Phoneix is over 100.

Excellent Meal and Spectacular Views.

We had a table on the upper deck. My daughter, her boyfriend, our 5 month old grandaughter, my husband and I attended. Recommend that if you're taking a small child, you bring your own life jacket. Baby may respond better. My daughter was concerned about her chewing on the corner, due to not knowing how many children had chewed on it before. Meal was wonderful. Filet mignon was cooked to perfection and very tender. Best meal we've had on a dinner cruise. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see some spectacular views and a break from the heat.

Service was excellent. We saw bighorn sheep and deer. Please go when the moon is full - the moon fflecting off the water and canyon walls was breathtaking.

I enjoyed meeting people from all over, and watching their fascination with Arizona and its various flora, and architecture. Particularly enjoyed this time of year when the centrury plants were in bloom. Narrator did a great job describing the various scenes which would be seen in the canyon walls.

It was very hot that day but we enjoyed it.

Many years ago, I had taken my children on this Dolly Steamboat during spring break and we all thought it was fun. So finally, for Father's Day, 2 of the now adult kids and a granddaughter and I took my husband. Though we didn't see any animals like the kids and I did the first time, it was still a fun thing to do. The 2 adult kids are now talking about doing the dinner cruise. The crew was friendly and helpful and the captain was informative and funny. The granddaughter did have to wear a life vest which is to be expected but she didn't like it as it made her uncomfortable and hot. We did find out that if you are downstairs, the vest isn't needed. Most surprising was the snack bar and the VERY reasonable prices. We ended our trip by having lunch at the marina, again, very reasonably priced with a great menu. We'd do it again but when it is cooler.

AMAZING

The dinner cruise was wonderful and far excided my expectations. The sights were amazing; the captain was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The staff was very friendly. My only disappointment was the food. It was all way over cooked. The filet mignon was overcooked that I couldn’t eat it. The chicken was the same. I was disappointed because I was left hungry but the cruise was really worth it. I have been telling all of my friends. Thank you.

We were visiting the Phoenix area and wanted something fun to do. This trip really fit the bill. We enjoyed the people on the trip, the crew, and the dinner was delicious and very filling. We'd highly recommend this trip for anyone.

Cruze the Canyon Lake
Sat, Jun 14, 08   6:00 PM Don4E2 Female 50-59 Local Couple on a Date
My husband and I have wanted to take this evening cruse for quite a while now. He finally purchased the tickets.. He chose the upper level, for which we were grateful as it was pretty warm that day. We had a table to ourselves which was very nice. The Captain would point out highlights and points of interest , that was nice. The food was buffet style which was ok, but the way they had everyone go thru the buffet line was very good planning. It went table by table so we didn't have to wait in a long line when our table was released to go thru the food line. We have family visit from out of state quite often and we are very seriously thinking of sharing this cruse with them the next time they visit... We really enjoyed our evening and will probably do this agin in the future. Oh I don't want to forget to mention the crew/staff. They all, were friendly and helpful. Good Service...

Same trip, different experience

We took this same dinner cruise about 6 weeks ago...but what a difference 6 weeks in Arizona makes! It was 110 the day we cruised and it couldn't have been more stifling. We were seated on the upper level at the front of the boat, and even though there were windows and breezes now and then, it was just plain hot. The rest of the trip was still incredible, though...beautiful scenery, entertaining narrative, excellent meal (the filet was a thousand times better than the ribeye of six weeks ago!), and top-notch service. This is still a not-to-be-missed trip!

I've lived in Arizona since 1968 and I can witness that the trip to and from Canyon Lake is one of the most scenic drives in Arizona. You can stop at the Gold Field Mine, a touristy 1800's style old west attraction, then meander on up the winding road to Canyon Lake. The scenery is breath-taking. Then there's the trip up into the canyons of Canyon Lake on the Dolly Steamboat. I once took a friend from Switzerland on this excursion and his comment on the way back out of the canyons, crossing the lake toward the marina was, "I've seen many beautiful places in my life, but this is the most beautiful place I have ever been." That comment came from a guy who has seen some very beautiful country. After the excursion, do not miss the next stop to the east, Tortilla Flat. It's "old west" to the max and they serve great burgers, BBQ, etc. You can make a day of it on this outing and come away thinking, "What a fantastic experience!"
