Great but could be much better...

The Supes are beautiful and to me at least, magical, and gliding along among them on the smooth surface of a lake inside the Superstitions is inevitably a pleasure. I took my mom and even sitting in the middle of the boat on its "first floor" was nice. Some things really disappointed me though. First I can recall only one or at the most two sentences about the geology of the area. We're immersed for two hours in some of the most fascinating geology in the world and most of the narration was "Oh, look, there's a rock that looks like ET! There's one that looks like an angel! There's another one like it up the hill! That one looks like JSBach!" Whereupon Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is played on the sound system. I'd be genuinely reluctant to take European friends on this tour, since it seems like just another embarassing example of the abysmally low education level in this country. Please, Dolly Steamboat, give us some real information about what we're seeing! What parts are igneous and what sedimentary? What is pyroclastic? Lava? Sandstone? Limestone? There's an area pointed out of actual petrified trees mixed with geodes and not a word on how it got there! Second, the music that played loudly when there wasn't narration was often annoying, including some twangy Arizona country song, followed by Enya's "Sail Away", then something from "Titanic"! I wonder if we sank they'd play "Nearer my God to Thee?" I came to see the area, not hear music that's been done to death already, thanks. The jazzy backgroundy stuff with no lyrics was OK because it was unobtrusive, but there was too little of it among the schmaltz. Otherwise, five stars.

Canyon Lake in beautiful in April. The blue herons on the lake and the wild flowers on land make it a delightful place to visit. The scenery was greatly enhanced by our 90 minute narrated ride on Dolly Steamboat. The guide pointed out many highlights, including bighorn sheep and blue heron on our 2 PM cruise. Yes, I will recommend this relaxing ride to my friends!

The youngest in our group of 8 from Wisconsin was 14 and the oldest was 78. One of us is in a wheel chair. We all liked the trip. Seeing the mountain goat was a high point ... we don't have them in Wisconsin. This was my second trip with you so I guess I must have like the first trip also.

My sister came down from Ohio, where it was 32 degrees and snow and looking for some warm weather and a nice vacation. We took her on your Dolly Steamboat Dinner Cruise. We had not been on this cruise, so this was a first for all of us. The views were breathtaking and the dinner was excepionaly good.. We grade this at a 10+ and would recommend it to all our friends and family...Thank you for such a wonderful evening, we will never forget it....John, Dolly & JoAnn.

Nice but could be better

My wife and son and I enjoyed the cruise very much. However, as the captain and on-boards guides directed our view to interesting natural formations and bighorn sheep, they used vague ("about a hundred feet left of the ___" - who can tell how far 100 feet is when you don't have any common reference?!) and not very helpful clues to look for landmarks, such as reference to trees and shrubs they knew, but whose names were foreign to us.. We had to work hard to see even a glimpse of what was noted before they were gone. An inexpensive laser pointer could have helped us pinpoint the rock formations and landmarks outcroppings where the sheep were supposed to be. Most of the passengers in our vicinity along with us were frustrated by the inability to decipher what was supposed to be there, but many let on like they could see them so our female guide would feel she was being helpful, which she was clearly trying to be, jusdt not successfully..

Very professionally operated, informative and relaxing. A good way to spend a Spring Summer or Fall afternoon, perhaps the Winter would be a little cool for comfort. Kudos to Dolly !

I thought there would be more history of Arizona

There should have been more history of Arizona/they canyon on the tour, instead it just pointed out some animals that happened to walk by and a few jokes. I would have liked it to be a bit more educational/informative.

Hello DOLLY! disappointed

It was a beautiful day, and the water was calm - but, my minor complaint was that we only went PART way up the canyon & lake. We missed a LOT! My MAJOR complaint was that no one would honor my "COYOTE COUPONS" discount: the site had no way to enter this coupon, and no way to contact them directly to adjust the billing; I sent an e-mail to 'customerservice@dollysteamboat.com' (as directed), but the e-mail was returned as "Undeliverable"; and, at the customer window (Sun 3/30), at Canyon Lake, the Dolly Steamboat rep REFUSED to do anything about the discount coupon! :-( She was more interested in making sure the cattle got herded onto the boat. We've lived in Mesa since 1987, and this was our 1st trip on the Dolly - some 'first impression'.

This is by far the best way to relax and to see some great scenery on the lake. The cruise was fantastic and the food as well. We go whenever we have the chance as this is just a great way to relax and undwind. We like taking friends with us to show them the natural beauty Arizona has to offer. We will continue to go as the opportunity arises. Well worth the price and very organized.

The twilight dinner cruise we took in March had the best weather Arizona has to offer. The views of the lake and surrounding canyon were delightful...we even saw some spectacular big horn sheep high on the canyon wall. The staff were great and the food was filling and good.

My husband surprised me with the twight light cruise for my birthday. The weather was wonderful as we were sat at our reserved table on the boat. The staff were very friendly. The cruise provided views of Arizona's natural beauty. The boats captian pointed out many rock formations and points of interest without to many interuptions. Music played throughout the cruise and there were many photo ops. The food was good, but the relaxation and the opportunity to see the beauty that surrounded us was wonderful. Even as the sun set and we sailed back in the dark, there was a wonderful reflection on the water as we relaxed in a romantic setting. Thank you for such a wonderful birthday! Lori and Craig Cooper
