This is a great way to unwind and view the beauty of Canyon Lake. Our guests did not realize how large Canyon lake actually is. The food was good and the service was excellent.

i collect eagles and was very happy to of seen one on this cruise as well as the big horn sheep. it was a very relaxing time this was my second time on the cruise and would do it again there was a group of us that belong to a PT Cruiser club that went and we all had a great time. i would recommend this cruise to everyone

We were ready for a simple, calm boat ride with fantastic views of scenery and nature that the whole family could enjoy. Good price and well spent time with lots of opportunities to take pictures. Kids enjoyed it.

The scenery was beautiful, and the staff was friendly and helpful. A Big Horn Sheep was seen by some of the passengers and the captain circled back around so everyone could see it! That was very nice. I was disappointed with the lack of "nature talk". Most of the audio was a mix of easy listening songs, with just a little talking thrown in. I would have liked to hear more about the animals that live in the mountains (whether we saw them or not), as well as about the geology and plant life. There was some, but not as much as I would have expected for a nature cruise. I would still recommend the trip, but more for the pretty scenery than the educational value.

The only thing I did not like was the fact that we had to stand in line for a long time to get our boarding passes. We were told to get there a half hour before departure but the ticket agent did not arrive until 20 min before departure and it took a long time to accomodate everyone in line. There has to be a better way.

I would have liked more geological information - there were rock formations that were not discussed. Why different colours of rocks, why do some rocks protrude over others? A map of the trip would have been nice - I would also have liked to go further up the river is possible. No discussion on how and why the lakes were formed although dam was talked about. Also we would have liked to have bought souveniers but did not realize they ould not be available once the boat stopped. Souveniers on shore would have been nice. A great trip and great day! Thanks

Wonderful Narrated Nature Cruise on Canyon Lake

At the recommendation of a friend, I took my mom, and three of her siblings --- ages 50+ --- my husband, and my 2 year old daughter. Everyone loved it. Although it was a warm day, once on the boat, there was plenty of shaded areas and a cool breeze once in motion. What my mom really like about it was that the tour was narrated live (versus a previously recorded tape). There was quite a line on Memorial Day weekend --- not sure whether tickets normally sell out, but we were glad to have purchased in advance. There was also a great little restaurant overlooking the lake, which was great given that there was nothing else after Goldfield Ghost Town to eat. It was a very windy road getting there, but very scenic!

Canyon Lake is absolutely beautiful!! The scenery is breathtaking. The cruise on the lake was leisurely and relaxing for a total of 90 min. Dolly Steamboat is well maintained and very clean with seats for everyone. The "crew" was knowledgable and very entertaining and personable. We will be returning and taking the grandkids with us.
Not for kids Narrated Nature Cruise on Canyon Lake

We thought this would be a great activity for my parents who were visiting. We also thought this tour was child-friendly. Neither turned out to be true. Yes, kids are 'allowed'. However, I would think long and hard before bringing any children under 12. We didn't know children, even babies, were required to wear life-jackets at all times on the top deck. Once we got settled, one of the tour guides was EXTREMELY direct, almost rude, regarding our two children, not only having their life jackets on, but, snapping all of the snaps. (Is it REALLY necessary to snap all the snaps on a over-sized life jacket for a 6 MONTH old, who we're holding?) Anyways, moved to the bottom and were all counting down the minutes for the tour to be over. On a positive note, it seemed like all the guest over 75 years of age were really enjoying themselves.

This was a relaxing tour of the lake and canyons. The weather was beautiful, as was the scenery. I was disappointed that I didn't see any wildlife, other than a few birds of prey, but maybe next time. The accommodations are first class...comfortable and clean vessel, nice snack bar, nice staff, well organized. I'd like to return sometime for the dinner cruise.

The captain was really great and did not narrate from some script, and he was funny. Heather was the crew member on our deck and she was awesome and funny also, I could honestly recommend this cruise to anyone. Thanks to the crew and the captain, it was great.
