I and a couple of family members were really looking forward to attending the steamboat ferry ride. Unexpectedly I needed to leave town and head back home ft lauderdale, FL causing my vacation to be cut short. I understand that there are no cancellations or refunds but was hoping that there could be some recourse. I was wondering if a credit could be extended toward an activity here in this area if you provide activities or events on the east coast. Otherwise I heard that the steamboat ride would have been very enjoyable. Once again undecided but would like to take advantage of a future event.

Romantic Sunset Cruise

We thoroughly enjoyed the sunset cruise on Canyon Lake. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They all contributed to an informative and fun evening. We live in Michigan and we have plenty of lakes, but this canyon cruise was unbelieveable. The scenery was breathtaking. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

This was a relaxing and fun experience with beautiful scenery. It was enjoyable to sit with friends and family with only the mountains and water as peaceful distractions. The food was better than expected based on the previous reviews I've read. The only suggestion would be to change the vegetable (green beans are great but adding chucks of tomatoes was not the best combo. keep it simple and just have the beans or another common veg.) The salad was good, but you need alittle more than just lettuce....maybe use the tomatoes here instead :) ). The captain was fun and discussed the points of interest...and it wasn't too much chatter, just enough. Thanks!!

Great trip, but check in early

Great trip, but check in early to be sure you get the spot on the boat you want. Narration is interesting and music most appropriate to the voyage. As expected, wildlife was limited on the noon cruise. Travel the Apache Trail after the boat ride for a wonderful completion to your day.

Previous experience was good.

My guest and I missed the voyage - as did six other people behind us on the road - due to slow motorcycle traffic on the last 12 mi. of canyon road who refused to let people pass on the pull-out lanes. We all were approx. 3 mins. late and the Dolly Steamboat had just left the dock. I resent that the vessel owners insist on leaving exactly at 12P instead of beginning boarding at 12P and leaving at 12:15P. Especially knowing that several of their clients have not signed in by 12P. There are issues with traffic, especially on mountain roads that most clients are unfamiliar with. I lost approx. $43.00; the other people lost approx. $160.00. Not good. We tried several times to call, as I was told did the other group, on our cell prior to it ceasing to transmit in the deep canyon. On each occasion there was no answer at the Dolly Steamboat office. I have taken this voyage once before with family and felt then also that the attitiude of the owners was overly rigid and unfriendly in regards to policy structure, and food restrictions without healthy offerings on the vessel. I would consider taking this trip again, because it is the only experience of this kind in the area, but allow excessive lead time to travel up the canyon. Dolly Steamboat - Highly Recommend

I have done the Dolly cruise about 6 + times. Whenever I have guests visiting, the Dolly is a MUST DO in Arizona. The cruise is very relaxing and informative, plus Canyon Lake is very beautiful. I never get tired of it and my guests ALWAYS rave about the cruise later to their friends. My visiting friends have come back to Phoenix with their friends and took them on the Dolly! THIS IS A MUST SEE if you are visiting the Phoenix area as it shows the beauty of the Arizona Sonoran Desert.

Recommend going in the cooler months

The breeze was nice, but when it was calm, it got a little hot. I'd recommend going in early spring or later fall when the weather is cooler.

boat tour lacked real value
Sat, May 19, 07   12:00 PM ronleezale Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My husband and I took our parents on the Dolly Steamboat tour of Canyon Lake. It was a busy Saturday which had a negative affect on the tour; lots of jet skis circling the steamboat trying to jump the wake. This, along with the tour guide lacking real insight into the surrounding scenery, made the overall experience a great disappointment. I would recommend saving the money and renting a pontoon boat on Canyon Lake.

This Trip is WONDERFUL and EDUCATIONAL !

As a new resident to Phoenix, my husband and I wanted to find a place to take our family when they came out from Ohio and Calf. My new friends at work recommended Canyon Lake boat tour...We checked on line, thought it would be great and booked for 5 adults and 1 child which was free...I liked that very much! We drove out to check it all out before everyone got here and loved the drive and hairpin turns to the canyon...We are explorers! Found everything...Got a beer in the resturant, went to Toritta Flats got an ice cream cone and earrings...went back home! Then when the family came we did it all over again...the boat ride was wonderful, the captain was just great with all the history, loved the music...popcorn and snacks very reasonable in price...Free water was a very nice thing to have...Got back, we all went into the resturant and ate great food and ICE COLD beer...went back to the FLATS and all got prickly pear cactus ice cream...and drove home....Our children, their wives and our 4 year old granddaughter had a great time....Would tell anyone to buy tickets and do this tour.... Thanks so much Marci and Joe Williams

Nice relaxing trip

We had a nice time, although it was a bit long, and it was pretty hot outside. When we tried to find a seat inside for some shade, many tables for 4 were occupied by 2 and therefore, "taken". We didn't feel it was right to intrude on the other passengers. The narration was wonderful. I've lived in this part of Arizona for over 10 years, enjoyed many of its lakes, and the information about Canyon Lake, it's geography and wildlife was very interesting . Thoroughly enjoyable. I thought the price was a little high, tho.

Great Time....

This is the third time we have taken out of town visotors on the Boat.... It is always great scenery and a nice showcase of Arizona. However, I have to say we had four kids with us from the ages of 8 through 12 and they had a terrible time. They had to where lifevests the enitire time and they were sweating like stuck pigs!! so between the kids complaining and us explaining why.... I do not think we will go back again until the kids are old enough not to wear those heavy lifepreservers.

I thought that the dolly steamboat cruise was a great actiivity. It provides beautiful scenery, and can be very romantic. I wasn't however to pleased with the fact that when purchasing your ticket on Zerve they ask for additional comments. I wrote that it was my fiance's birthday. On the cruise the captain announced a birthday, that of course was not my fiance. I have no idea why they have you write additional comments, if they are not going to review them.
