our group consisted of locals and friends from England. Even though the animals did not make a much anticipated appearance, the trip was enjoyed and the scenery was nice.And Captain Tom was a very funny tour guide.

To be down on the water to view the canyon and mountain sides is just totally different and awe inspiring then driving the highways. There is nothing like it. To get the true experience, you need to be in the front of the boat in the open to enjoy the true beauty of it all.

The cruise around the lake was beautiful and the crew was great. We made reservations online and when we arrived at the lake, we discovered we had accidentally been booked for a chartered cruise of about 50 2nd graders! The Dolly Steamboat crew and staff were great offering us seats on a later cruise and even provided us free passes for the mix up. We decided to say on our original cruise and the tour was beautiful. The weather was great, the narration provide enough information to spark interest about the history and local stories about the lake and surrounding rock formations. I would certainly recommend this cruise to anyone.

ON 3-13-07 I went on the Internet to get 4 tickets ,I was told there was only 2 tickets left. so I got the 2 and had to leave our friends not able to come with us . but when I got our passes I asked why there was people in the walk on line getting tickets. I was told you always hold some tickets for walk on's This is unfair way to do business.

We were planning on having lunch at the Marina Restaurant before the boat ride, however, the restaurant was obviously understaffed unable to accomodate the many people also trying to get a bite to eat, so we could not have lunch. The snack bar was closed and the snacks on the boat were not sufficient. It appeared that the boat did not restock after their first ride of the day. Our departure time was 2:00 p.m. After the boat ride we once again attempted to get lunch at the Marina Restaurant but they were having some sort of equipment failure and had to close the restaurant. Although the Marina Restaurant and boat ride may be two separate things I viewed both as part of my overall experience. I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THIS OUTING TO ANYONE BASED UPON MY EXPERIENCE THIS PAST WEEKEND.

We had friends from California visiting us and we wanted to do something different, but not too strenuous. We had lunch at the resturant on the deck and then onto the 2:00 pm tour. We all enjoyed it very much and the pictures turned out great. We found the whole afternoon very serene and enjoyable, would recommend it to everyone. We want to do the dinner cruise the next time. Turning an electronic ticket into a boarding pass was unclear. We had to stand in a line to receive a boarding pass, and passengers were boarded according to their number. Could the signage be more clear, or could the information be put on the net? If it was, I missed it. Another idea would be to put the boarding number right on the e-ticket, and have an employee check the number as we board. I don't have the answer, but I'm just telling you that the process was unclear. We enjoyed the boat ride; the captain was informative but not too chatty.

My primary reason for wanting to take this cruise was the excitement of seeing animals in the wild that would otherwise not be seen as was advertised. While I understand that is not something that can be guaranteed, I was hoping to see at least one animal of any sort, however, we saw absolutely none. I also thought it was a bit overpriced.

A female friend and I went on the Saturday evening cruise. We did not purchase dinner tickets so were required to sit on the lower level (inside) of the boat. That would have been ok except that there was a very loud family down there with us. The diner looked all right but not worth the price except for the fact that with the dinner you get the prime seating, either on the top deck or outside on the bow. You can bring your own wine or beer if you purchase dinner. I am not sure whether you can do this if you do not purchase dinner. There is a snack bar with a few items like candy bars. The Captain's narrative left much to be desired. However, the view and atmosphere was fantastic! The Captain and crew were very friendly and tried to acccomodate us after dinner by allowing us to sit in chairs outside on the bow away from the noisy family.

The scenery made the cruise worthwhile. It was disappointing that the crew was late in checking us in. One actually asked us "What time does the cruise start?" Even though the captain said it was due to a new ticketing system and they're working the bugs out...that was not true. One of the servers told me that they were told the wrong time - 5:30 instead of 5:00. Disappointing when we were told to be there half hour early. The food was very average.
