| The Billie Holiday Theatre consistently provides the best in Brooklyn Community Theater and Off Broadway shows in NYC . If you're looking for fun things to do in Brooklyn, a romantic date idea, or a family activity in Brooklyn, then look no further. I've seen the opera at Lincoln Center, Broadway shows in NYC, and heard the symphony at Carnegie Hall; when you look at the dollar for dollar value, the productions at the Billie Holiday stand up to just about any of the more famous New York City attractions. The last production, Love and Marriage and New York City, was a poignant microcosm of the world in which we all live. The actors were fantastic, and the themes were universal. The Billie Holiday is much more than the premier black theater in New York City, it is, simply put, a consistent provider of the best Brooklyn plays and shows, affordable to all, relevant to all. Love and Marriage and New York City was my third Billie Holiday production. Where else can you sit in the third row with a party of three for under $70? Certainly not at Wicked, Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Hairspray or any of the other Broadway shows in New York. Looking forward to more amazing Brooklyn shows and off Broadway theater productions from the crew at the Billie! |

| I really enjoyed this play. Although it was focused around the issue of a marriage for convenience, the playwright was creative it weaving the point of being open to love and expressing your feelings before it's too late. The play was very humorous, but this aspect of the play was thought provoking and emotional. It made me realize that some people can find it challenging to love and be loved for fear of being abandoned or not loved in return. But you have to take a chance in expressing your feelings to those who love you before its too late. I would highly recommend this play. |

| I enjoyed my night out. I laughed because it was entertaining.
It was a play advertised for teenagers and up. I would not have been comfortable seeing the play with a 13,14,15,16,17or 18 year old because of the sexual overtones. My teenager could see the play with his friends, not with Mommy. All the performers were great, but Mr. Nixon Cesar was excellent. I recommend this community play. Good Luck to the actors. | I thought that the play was very good with the exception of its length. It captured much of the experience of the upwardly mobile immigrant and what they face in trying to make it in a new country.
The comedic timing was for the most part good but because of the length sometimes it felt that the jokes fell short of the mark.

| I usually come to all of your production and have found them all 'Excellent'.
To God be the Glory!!!!
I came back to see Love and Marriage with a group of my co-workers, which
they are still talking about. The special $10.00 rate allowed me to treat
them to night at the theater, which in turn will support more ticket sales with
your next production.
When you've been blessed, pass it on......
P.S. I'm very impressed with the excellent scripts and stories that our
people have produced in this small setting, one set stage with excellent
actors and meaningful lessons with each theme.
Eagerly awaiting the next show.....! |

| An out of town engagement had my returning a tad late to make the Sunday performances. My guest and I truly intended to do a repeat. The character Jennifer was me on that stage. She is the essence of so many women who just can not give up or in to another. Jennifer performed the role perfectly.
My guest so enjoyed the male characters. Himself a writer and the nephew of Alex Haley, he not only felt the writer's genius but also saw in his giving over to the role of the invalid a most delightful performance. The role of Natalie was performed well by the young lady and Theopholus was 'off the chain'.
I certainly will attend again and again and will sell tickets this time of do as I have done in the past, buy a block of tickets and treat my friends.
Again, "cuddoes" to Love & Marriage & New York City".
Most Sincerely,
Judy Thurston McNeil

| We thoroughly enjoyed the play. The story line moved along smoothly there were no long overly drawn out scenes. I am going to recommend this play to my friends, family and co-workers. I would definitely attend another play by this Playwright.
Thank you for sending me the invitation. |
