The Brooklyn Pizza Tour was fun! After having done most of the obvious touristy things one must do in NYC we decided to try this out. We are glad we did. The tour was fun and informative. The tour guide was great. The pizzas were very good. The bus was immaculatley clean and air conditioned, with an on board restroom that never got funky with about 44 people onboard for 4.5 hours (less eating time). That's amazing. Picked up and dropped off in Union Square, so convenient. We had a great time. |

My wife and I read about this event in the NY Times and immediately wanted to give it a whirl. We were born and raised in Brooklyn, now living in South Jersey). We asked my brother and his wife (originally from the Bronx, but lived in Brooklyn when she got married) to join us. It was a trip down "memory lane," visiting old neighborhoods we were familiar with and also seeing how the borough has developed and changed since we moved away in the 60's. Our guide, Paula, was a bundle of energy and information. She made the 4-hour excursion even more fun than we anticipated. Driving around some of the streets in Brooklyn is a challenge for the faint of heart, so kudos also go to the bus driver who has amazing navigating skills. Everything about this event is highly rated by our group of four. |

This is a fun and relaxing tour! The tour guide, Paula, was extremely gracious and entertaining. She was enthusiastic and as pleasant as Tony, whom we have previously enjoyed the tour with. Both pizzerias are great, and very different from each other in their style. The tour of Brooklyn, complete with movie clips of the exact place you are at while driving on the bus, is delightful, as are the stories that only someone truly from Brooklyn could offer! Coney Island was pleasant on this early April weekend, and the park in the Brooklyn Bridge area was another good stop. It offered a fantastic view of Manhattan. I was with three family members (18-58) and we all went away happy. I would definitely recommend this to any visitor in the area. Manhattan is great, but Brooklyn is just as worthy of your time. |

Forget that this is called a pizza tour - it's way too simplistic to describe it like it that. This was our 2nd trip to NYC, and having only done the obligatory Brooklyn Bridge crossing the 1st time, we decided to stay in Brooklyn this time (for about half the price of Manhattan). We saw a fair chunk of Brooklyn off our own bat, but this tour was excellent for taking us places we wouldn't dream of (or couldn't get to) going. Our guide (wish i could remember her name!) was outstanding, and was full of a thousand stories that helped give the place character and colour. (She also, unusually for a US tour guide, didn't mention tipping at all during the day - I was so grateful, as a result she remains one of the few people in the USA i tipped more than a couple of dollars).
Yep, the pizza is great, no question. But you can throw a dart out of a window in NYC and hit someone selling a decent slice. Go on this tour to experience Brooklyn - to hear the stories, see the sights, and appreciate what an underrated, interesting, uncrowded place NYC can be when you expand your horizons beyond Manhattan.
Highly, highly recommended. |
