Good overview, albeit lacking in depth ...

It wasn't the pizza, but rather the bus tour of Brooklyn which highlighted this outing. We walked underneath the Brooklyn Bridge and walked along the boardwalk in Coney Island, driving through fascinating and diverse neighborhoods in between. The pizza angle was not emphasized; and this was OK with me. Nevertheless, if you are a serious foodie you may be unsatisfied. We stopped at two places: (a) Grimaldi's for Neapolitan-style and (b) Lombardi's for Sicilian-style. The visits were strictly dining-room. No one from either establishment met with us for Q&A or to show us the kitchens or ovens. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour myself; but then again I signed on more for the Brooklyn experience than to learn about the NY pizza scene.

This tour went beyond my expectations!

I took the pizza tour on the advice of friends who took it a few months back. I expected to have a good time like they said, but the tour exceeded my expectations. The first thing I noticed was how nice the bus is. It's clean, comfortable and I could easily see from both sides of the bus. Danny, the driver, did a great job getting us around the borough. Tony, the tour guide, was joined by his Uncle Louie and his two cousins Paula and Maria. Tony said that he's hiring family members as he's expanding his company, so Paula and Maria did parts of the tour along with Tony and they all did a great job. I found out that his cousin Maria had actually been a tour guide in Italy. His uncle Louie is the real deal, he's as Brooklyn as it gets. The entire day I felt like a part of the family. My favorite part of the tour, besides the amazing pizza at both stops, was to be able to actually stand on the legendary boardwalk at Coney Island. This tour is worth every penny and I'll recommend it to all my friends. I'll be back to take Tony's other tours as well. Good luck Tony!

More than a pizza tour

The Brooklyn slice of pizza tour is more than pizza. It is a slice of Brooklyn's history and some of its neighborhoods. Tony (the tour leader) is Brooklyn born and bred and his love for Brooklyn is evident. The tour includes stops where movie scenes were shot (and Tony shows the scene on the bus tv monitors) along with a stop on Coney Island and a walk on the boardwalk. All in all, this New Orleanian enjoyed it very much.

A must to learn about pizza and Brooklyn

Tony makes all efforts in order to provide fun to the guests. He teachs us on pizza history but also on Brooklyn: the tour is very well organised: we visited the best places in Brooklyn, including most famous places where movies were made, and learn about Brooklyn history. We ate in two different pizzeria. The bus is very comfortable. Tony has reached his objective: changing the perception of people on Brooklyn. MANHATTAN? FORGET ABOUT IT!!!!!!

Tony is the 'best.' The film shorts and music are a real plus. It's a sightseeing extravaganza. Maryann

Excellent pizza and tour of Brooklyn

I had a very good time on this tour. I love pizza and really wanted to try authentic pizza. I even thought about having pizza today (after I got home) and it just didn't appeal to me since sampling the pizza in Brooklyn. Tony is a great host and tour guide. He is from the area and that definitely is seen as you go on the tour with him. I would definitely take this tour again and am excited to hear about the new tours he has coming out too (especially the Christmas lights tour). I love New York and Brooklyn is just another portion I have seen and love now too. BE sure to go on this tour - my tour was actually quite the opposite of what I expected because most of the people on my tour were actually from the area. So, that in itself, was interesting because I was about to hear about things these people did when they were kids and were just checking it out now as they had gotten older (and they were still pretty much in the area, but just taking the tour). Tony is great and you will definitely have a great time on this tour!

Fun way to spend a day off

I've lived in NYC for my entire adult life but never had the opportunity to try either of the restaurants on Tony's tour. Both were great, the weather was nice and it was a good group, though I was a little surprised that I was the only local. Tony is a very enthusiastic Brooklyn native and advocate for the borough, pointed out some cool, little known facts about the borough (I have to go back and re watch Saturday Nigh Fever and The French Connection to complete my geography lesson) and put on a great tour. I'd highly recommend it as a fun thing to do with a random day off or when you have relatives in town.
