| This tour had two aims, eating great pizza and Brooklyn sightseeing. I am pleased to say that it met both objectives with flying colours. Tony is a most engaging tour guide. If you left him to it, he could talk about the geography, demographics, history and culture of Brooklyn for hours, and what's more it would all be compelling listening. Tony clearly loves Brooklyn, and that is obvious to anyone that takes the tour.
The pizza at both Grimaldi's and Spumoni Gardens was delicious, and unlike any pizza I have had anywhere else. As for the sightseeing, Brooklyn Bridge was a predictable, albeit essential place to visit. We also visited the Manhattan Bridge down the river. However, it is when we left the shore of the East River and headed into unknown territory in deepest Brooklyn that the already high interest level rose still further. I loved Bay Ridge (yes, Brooklyn does have middle class areas!). Also fascinating were the areas of Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights and Bath Beach and their Italian-American influences. We saw the pizzeria where John Travolta purchased a pizza in 'Saturday Night Fever', and a few other locations from that film. We drove down the road featured in the car chase in 'The French Connection'. We visited the Coney Island Boardwalk and on the way back to Manhattan passed from various intriguing Ethnic neighbourhoods.
One possible suggestion for future improvement. Make the tour 2-3 hours longer, so that we can discover even more areas of Brooklyn and we can make more stops at points of interest. And eat more pizza of course!
Overall, an excellent tour. My perception of Brooklyn has changed forever. The next day I was on the D train back to Coney Island. I now find myself saying 'Forget About It' at random times! As the trailer says, you can take the tourist out of Brooklyn, but you can't take Brooklyn out of the tourist... |

| I saw this tour featured on CBS Sunday morning and immediately went to my computer and made a reservation. This is great, fun, and delicious. This is the tour guide's baby and he treats it right. The bus is very nice, the guide is exhuberant and knows his stuff. Anyone should love it, and you see sooooo much of Brooklyn, including Coney Island. He also has videos and music that are both enjoyable and informative. And you also get to eat at two excellent pizza places. I loved it. Enjoy! |

| I went to NYC to visit some friends during the holidays and while they worked I went on "A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour". It was the absolute highlight of my trip and most of my friends who have lived in NYC for years have never even been to Brooklyn so I was able to educate them when I was finished. Tony, the guide was so attentive to everyone on the tour and it was the perfect balance between learning and of course pizza! I have already reccommended it to my friends and family and would go on the tour again any day. |

| We were met by "Tony," the sole tour guide and owner of the business. Tony is Italian American and comes complete with a slicked back crew cut, Brooklyn accent, and phrases like "Fuhgettaboudit" and "How YOU doin?" He was instantly likable and made everyone feel comfortable on his tour bus which held approximately 2 dozen people. After boarding the bus, we headed across the Manhattan Bridge for our first stop... a neighborhood called "DUMBO,” an acronym for "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass." We got off the bus and walked around a little public park. The views of the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, and cityscape off in the distance were breath taking. We learned about the neighborhood's history and saw a clip from "Scent of a Woman" where the blind character (played by Al Pacino) drives a fancy red sports car through the busy streets of NYC. It was neat that the tour bus had the capability to play these video clips, because we came to learn quickly that Brooklyn is a prime location for filming movies. After boarding the bus, our next stop was a pier just under the Brooklyn Bridge. Along the way there, we learned about some of the songs written about the borough and about the bridge itself and saw more movie clips. After more picture taking opportunities, we walked up the street to our first pizza stop... a place called Grimaldi's Pizzeria. We all filed into the small pizzeria and proceeded to scarf down the two slices of pizza per person that were delegated to us. The pizza was rather crispy and thin, but I liked the flavor and simpleness of this "margarita style." It literally contained only chunks of buffalo mozzarella, red pizza sauce, and a few sprigs of basil. Back on the bus, we got more of a driving tour for a while and saw such locations as the Army post where Elvis was first processed into the Army and such neighborhoods as Red Hook, Bayridge, and Dyker Heights... all with their own unique stories, personalities, movie clips, and architecture. We then turned a corner and headed down a street that was made famous by the opening scenes of the movie "Saturday Night Fever," starring John Travolta. It was now time for our pizza stop #2. Our second stop for pizza was at a place called L&B Spumoni Gardens. They are known for serving traditional Sicilian style pizza which has a crisp outer edge and gooey middle and features the unorthodox layering of sauce over mozzarella. This pizza was thicker, wetter, and a lot more filling. From here, we headed to the Coney Island part of the tour where we saw the very first Nathan's Hot Dog Stand and actually got off the bus to walk along the famous boardwalk. We got to see all of the famous rides and attractions of Coney Island like the Ferris Wheel, Cyclone, and AstroTower. On our ride back into Manhattan, we watched a slide show of all the famous actors, politicians, and athletes that are from Brooklyn. It was very surprising to see them all! What a fun day! I recommend this tour highly! |

| I've just returned from a four day trip to New York and the highlight of my stay was the Slice of Pizza Tour of Brooklyn. Our tour guide was so entertaining and the experience so much fun that the four and a half hour tour just flew by. His monalogue filled with interesting tid bits, personal antedotes as well as humour brought Brooklyn to life in a very real way ! Of note were the film clips showing movies like Saturday Night Fever which actually rolled as we drove down the very streets were the scenes were filmed. It was a touch of show biz at it's best. As for the pizza...well ...also unforgettable. |

| Really enjoyed myself on this tour, which was filled with unexpected things like a visit to the boardwalk at Coney Island as well as other film sites. The pizza was fantastic - now I know where to go next time. Tony is great - one can see he really loves what he is doing ! Highly recommended - you won't regret taking this very enjoyable tour of Brooklyn. There's definitely more to NY than Manhattan ! |
