delightful, informative, fulfilling (pizza)

Tony was an enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide whose love of Brooklyn came through from the moment we met him until the end of the tour. He took the group to some areas not easily accessible by subway and provided colorful commentary to all places we visited. His interweaving of historical detail, what is occurring now, and movie clips provided a great feel of what Brooklyn was and is. And, of course, the pizza, both its history and tasting, were fantastic.

The tour was great.! Being from Illinois we have always wanted to visit Brocklyn. The tour guide, Tony Muia, was outstanding and very knowlegeable. The bus was extremely comfortable . We will be telling all our friends what a wonderful time we had and recommend that they also take the trip. We are normally in NYC at least once a year and will be looking forward to other trip that Mr Muia will be the tour guide.

The Brooklyn we never knew!

This was one of the most fun tours ever...... If you know anybody going to NY city, you will want to suggest it (we already have). It is run by a typical Italian guy called Tony (yes he has a brother name Vinny and one named Joey!) who was born and raised in Brooklyn. He has a keen sense of humor, a winning manner and is a gracious host. The tour begins in Manhattan and ends there. We were on a 21-passenger bus so it has a nice cozy group feeling. As part of the 4 and 1/2 hour tour you go to 2 different award winning Pizza shops. We learned so much as Tony is a wealth of knowledge and an excellent communicator. As you go from place to place, Tony plays video clips from movies that were made right on the street and location where you are driving (Scent of a Woman, Sat. Night Fever, Annie Hall and lots more). He also played song clips of tunes about Brooklyn. This is a MUST do tour.

GREAT TOUR OF BROOKLYN WITH HISTORY AND FOOD!!

The timing of our pick-up was accurate and the history of Brooklyn started as soon as we got going. Our stops under the bridge to see the river, sky-line, and buildings were very informative. Our pizza stops were very well coordinated and delicious. We continued with more history of the neighborhoods, stops and walks at Coney Island(great) and finally more samples of your wonderful foods. I would recommend this trip to everyone and it was really well presented by our tour guide. He did a great job and you could tell he has a lot of pride in his city and wanted all to enjoy it.

Tony made me feel very welcome on his tour. He is a personable young man who knows the history and sights of interest in Brooklyn. He is aware of future plans for the area and shares the dreams of the planners. I am pleased to report that my own knowledge has grown because of the information he shared. At the pizza shops, Tony was the perfect host making sure each of us was comfortable and had sufficient food. His conversation at the table was a continuation of the areas' history which reflected his pride of his heritage. He spoke to each of us on the tour as he had known us all our lives. I would highly recommend this tour (and guide) to friends traveling to NYC. On the other hand our driver was not as personable....after he hit the Hostess truck, he never asked the passengers if we were alright. We were not injured, rather jolted with the inpact. But he could have showed a bit of concern. At the end of the tour, we offered to pay him to drop us off closer to our destination - less that 12 minutes away - but he refused. Tony tried his best to convince John to do this since we were in an accident, had to stop for air so he could reinflate the rear tire, wait for another bus to pick us up, and Tony was unable to finish the video tour because the 2nd bus didn't have a DVD system. John was the loser as he could have had an extra $55+ for the holidays! Thanks for allowing me to review the tour.

Holiday Highlight

A fantastic day out in Brooklyn with a terrific guide whose enthusiasm and engergy is infectious.Tony's knowledge of Brooklyn and its history is second to none. The use of film clips to highlight the various areas was fascinating,to feel part of such films as Saturday Night Fever and The French Connection was a brilliant idea. This was our 2nd visit to NYC this year and both my Wife and myself agreed this was one of the best experiences during either visit. Tony deserves all the support he can get to make this a successful venture and we would have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone. We look forward to a further tour during our next visit. The pizza's were'nt bad either!

Exceptional Tour

Tony, our tourguide was simply great, had all the answers to our questions, and even made an extra stop upon our request. Accomodated one tourist when she couldn't walk the distance which I thought was very kind. I really liked seeing the different cultures and the historical information. The videos of various movies that were filmed in Brooklyn was really interesting and fun to see them match up with the streets we were traveling. Seeing Coney Island was fabulous along with the seeing the various bridges up close. And of course the two stops for pizza was so enjoyable. I hope to travel with this tour again whenever I'm in the area.

My wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in NYC and planned some activities for the 5 days we were there. A few weeks before we left for our trip, the San Francisco Chronicle, our local paper, printed a small article about this tour. It sounded fun so we booked it right away. We knew nothing about Brooklyn at the time, now we know lots! When we first met Tony, we knew we had made the right decision about the tour. Tony is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, fun, professional and passionate about his hometown, Brooklyn. He was so well prepared for this tour, timing the music and film clips presicely as we drove through each neighborhood. It was fun watching the video and trying to see the exact spot that was filmed. We loved the stop at DUMBO, with magificant views of the bridges and the Manhattan skyline, the devine pizza at Grimaldi's and L&B Spumoni Gardens (save room for the delicious spumoni), our stop and walk along the boardwalk at Coney Island and the history and informative drive through the neighborhoods. We loved this tour and have already recommended it to many of our friends! Now they just have to plan a trip to New York! Thanks Tony, it was the best!!

What a WONDERFUL way to spend a day. This was a 4-hour tour with the 2 stops for pizza (1.5 hours separated the two) and wonderful scenery. Tony, the tour director, is a very friendly outgoing people person. He has done extensive research for this tour and it really shows, from the movie clips which were done very effectively to all the tidbits which he gives throughout the tour. Right from the first minute we met Tony, we felt as if we had been friends of his forever -- he is just super. I have recommended this tour to all of my friends and I recommend it to anyone reading this review -- this is NOT one to miss!!!! Thanks, Tony!

Don't miss Tony and "The Slice of Brooklyn"!

As a lifelong NJ residents we thought we had a fairly sophisticated knowledge of Manhattan but alas, our familiarity with Brooklyn was sorely lacking. We are so happy to report that 4.5 - 5 information packed fun filled hours hours with Tony changed all that. Tony was so much fun to be with that we just didn't want the tour to end. He really knows and loves his Brooklyn. He has so many great stories and vignettes to share that you really come away with a great appreciation for this boro where so much in our nations history has taken place (fascinating tales of the Revolutionary War). The list of famous people who grew up here reads like a who's who in literature, comedy, theater, music and maybe some other fields we'd best not talk about if you get the drift. We've been fortunate enough to travel to many places in the world and we have seen some pretty spectacular sights but, I can't say that we have ever had a better time on a tour! Don't miss this tour! You will be so happy you were on it that you just might be telling all your friends, as we are, "You've just got to meet Tony and really see Brooklyn"!
