More than a pizza tasting tour of Brooklyn
Mon, Dec 4, 06   11:00 AM gaydall Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
First of all, Tony, the tour guide is the best. What a fun tour. We saw sooooo many interesting spots in Brooklyn, they're too numerous to name individually. I'm from Chicago, and I must say I like New York pizza better than Chicago! What a great way to get a tour of Brooklyn and lots of its history. You would have to be from Mars not to enjoy this tour. I HIGHLY recommend it! Worth every penny and then some. You'll come home wanting to rent all the movies of various sites in Brooklyn. I've taken many tours, and this is so cleverly put together, you're going to love it. This tour also makes a wonderful and memorable gift for someone.

A one-man show w/No back up!!

My husband and I were truly looking forward to taking the Brooklyn Pizza Tour on Oct. 6, 2006. We were sorely disappointed when we learned only one man does these tours, he took ill, and it was cancelled! Granted, I don't mean anything disparaging to anyone who takes ill, but I'd hope that individual has a back up to take over when that situation happens!!! I would hope, in the future, if a tour like this is organized, that more than one person is involved in the event of illness or a emergency!

Great tour (even if you don't like tours)

I've been to Manhattan many times, but I wanted to venture out this time and see more of the city. I don't usually take tours, but this one sounded a little off-beat, so I decided to give it a try. It was great fun. It's clear that Tony has put many hours and much energy into developing the tour, and he did a great job of making all the participants (from a family with kids to a couple of individuals like me) comfortable and engaged with the group. Best of all, the pizza was fantastic! I would highly recommend this tour...even to people who don't typically like tours.

I have taken many guided tours in the USA and Europe and can attest without hesitation that Tony Muia is the best tour guide I have experienced. He is knowledgeable and passionate about Brooklyn. Tony made everyone on the tour feel welcome and readily answered questions. The tour includes stops at two pizzerias and the food is plentiful and delicious. We even had time to explore the boardwalk at Cony Island and ride the Cyclone. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks, Tony!

As a single traveler, I appreciated the chance to sample the coal oven pizzas, which are usually not sold by the slice. But the tour is so much more than that. A fantastic and unique overview of a place many tourists make the mistake of skipping over. Tony is a fabulous guide, very personable and clearly a fan of his home borough. I loved how he tied in many of the locations visited with movies clips. I would recommend this tour to anyone--go, stuff yourself, have fun and maybe take a spin on the Cyclone!

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Tony knows and loves Brooklyn, and is really good at creating a friendly and fun time. The small group--20 seems to be the maximum--format is nice, with time to socialize over the two pizza stops and in the bus as well. This tour is a nice relief from the high-pressure Manhattan sights, well worth the cost. I almost never take tours, but if they were all like this, that would change. Highly recommended!

Words cannot express how much I enjoyed this tour. If you are thinking of visting NYC and staying in Manhattan then think again. I can honestly say I enjoyed 4.5 hrs in Brooklyn better than 1 week in Manhattan. The pizza is to die for, dont pig out at Grimaldis because there is Sicilian coming up! There was a sense about Brooklyn that really got me, I cant say just what but a vibe. If you are a mafia buff you will love Bensonhurst. Coney Island is great and even the projects are interesting. Above all, the guide Tony is just wonderful. He had a great knowledge without being pushy and he seems like he truly cares about Brooklyn but more importantly the tour itself and the customers. Will do the tour again when next in NYC for sure!

An amazing tour of Brooklyn

The tour is a real treat. I enjoyed every minute of it. Tony knows his Brooklyn. He gave us some fascinating insight about Brooklyn’s more recent history and lead us to some of the most characteristic places of the borough. Besides that the pizza at Grimaldi’s and L&B Spumoni Gardens was excellent (so was the ‘spumoni’). A special highlight of the tour creates Tony with clips from various famous movies which were shot in Brooklyn (e.g. Saturday Night Fever, French Connection, etc). which he shows on the on board video system, masterfully timed at precisely the moment when the tour bus reaches the location where the shots were taken and when we had the same angle of view as in the movie. It makes you feel as if you were part of the scene. Amazing !

Get out of Manhattan, already! Great pizza, and interesting overview of the Borough. Well worth it.
