A Christmas Lights Tour of Brooklyn
Fri, Dec 19, 08   7:00 PM marcymckean Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
The tour guide was not waiting on the street carrying the "A Slice of Brooklyn' clipboard. If you do need to call the emergency contact number, leave a message, then call back because they don't call you. It was unfortunate that it was a rainy evening because the windows of the bus fogged up and didn't clear up right away. Bring some paper towels because they don't have anything for you to wipe the windows. Once you're on the bus the tour is nice. You receive some interesting information about Brooklyn and see some great "stuff." (Stuff = lights)

The tour was well organized, on time & fun. The only bad thing is that the weather was terrible for sightseeing -in or out of the mini-bus. If only the windows would have de-fogged better. Paula (our guide) however was not to be defeated and carried on enthusiastically. Danny, the driver navigated the slippery roads like a pro. Walking thru 4" of snow on Coney Islands board walk would not be something I'd do again, great pictures though. The pizza at both locations was as good as it gets, and there plenty to eat- and leftover. She said at the beginning that a large group had cancelled so the only thing I wonder is if there would have been the same amount of pizza, which would have stretched it thin. Overall a solid "10" with a 5 handicap for the snow.

Although the weather was not perfect, the tour was. Paula was excellent; very charming ( and easy to look at), and very knowledgeable. The tour made us want to come back to Brooklyn, and not just for the pizza, but that would be a necessary start. My wife, dressed in all black, on a snow covered Coney Island Boardwalk ,made a piece of art. We loved it and so will you. Steven and Rachel Binegar Versailles, Ky

The Brooklyn Lites Tour was very enjoyable. The neigborhood descriptions and personal stories were great and provided a wondeful context for the presentation of the residential lite displays. Would recommend the tour to others who enjoy learning about community and neighborhood leaders and histories.

SO THIS IS BROOKLYN!!!

I had a wonderful time on the tour-as a Queens native-I must say that I felt like I was in Queens and not Brooklyn. If I was to compare my block to the blocks I saw in Brooklyn-it was like comparing a full symphony orchestra to a kid banging on the drum. The homeowners are sure making Con Edison rich!!! This is a great seasonal tour that is highly recommended for anyone who would like to add a Magnificent Christmas memory. I can't wait to go on the Brooklyn neighborhood tour and get to know another part of Brooklyn, U.S.A.

Must be seen to be believed

One of a kind experience. At first I was unsure what the tour would be like and how you'd actually see the lights from the bus windows. However, that was unfounded as the bus does stop in areas with concentrated lights to allow everyone to get off and look closer and take photos. Tony our guide was very real and enthusiastic and knowledgeable giving just enough commentary as he pointed out the different neightborhoods from the Gowanus expressway and talked about the lighted houses as we drove by. I thought the tour was the easiest, quickest, and most relaxing way to make sure that you saw all the highlights of the decorated houses in Dyker Heights

disappointed with the optional stop

Bus : great and I'm glad he had gotten the larger-size bus that knees. Bus driver: great & able to make those tight turns plus knows his way around. Video presentation: great. Audio: disappointed that we were not able to connect the radio channel to be in sync with the lights at the final house, hence a disappointing finale. Optional: Mona Lisa Bakery: very poor rating. [ I would add that we have some in our group that had lived in Europe, been to Italy and grew up in NYC's Little Italy!] Lousy food, bad service, but large cups of coffee. Guide: OK, but can show a bit more enthusiam and passion. Some bare facts had already been mentioned on the other tours. [ FYI, these are the usual specific comments that we ask our travellers] I am a professional Travel Agent with over 20 years of experience. Sincerely, Linda Loo

Fun trip, but overpriced
Fri, Dec 12, 08   7:00 PM lsiebenhaar Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Much of your experience will depend on where you call home and what you are used to seeing at Christmastime. We live in Utah where electricity is cheap and there are single-family houses galore. A large majority of the population decorates their houses with Christmas lights. Thus, we felt like this excursion merely showed us the same things we can see by driving around our home, but at a rather costly price. However, we must say that if you live in a big city such as Manhatten, where there are few homes, this would be quite a scene. There were people on our bus from Australia who loved it and took 10 photos of each house. One hint for Tony, if you're going to play vintage Christmas music, turn it down a bit. It was obnoxious after a while.

Cold enough, but no snow
Fri, Dec 12, 08   7:00 PM dickc240 Male 70+ Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
My wife and I took this tour December 12, 2008. It was cold ! If only it had snowed. On this night Tony was filming with Samantha Brown for the travel channel so we started out with Uncle Louie. It was my wifes birthday and the entire crew of the bus knew that ahead of time. Made her feel great. Tony was able to join us about half way through the tour in Bay Ridge. We then went on to Dyker Heights. The light were "over the top" This is something everyone should do. It is hard to believe that so many people could get involved with decorating their homes to the degree we saw. We took the Pizza tour and the Lights tour on the same day. That's a whole day and an evening spent in Brooklyn. We feel like natives. Thanks Tony ! Dick and Vera Compton Walnut Creek, CA
