So often Brooklyn is stereotyped in an unflattering way. Well, this tour is really the best of Brooklyn. From the wonderful promanade overlooking lower Manhattan, to Park Slope, and on to "Victorian Brooklyn", the elegance of the borough shines through.
Tony's love and knowledge of the area is unmatched and his accent lends credibility to his enthusiasm for his home town. |

After reading all these positive reviews all over the net i was expecting something more than that.
I think that the idea of such a tour is a good one and it gives a newbie a chance to see Brooklyn through the eyes of someone that knows the area. Our guide, Paula, did a good job to show us around Brooklyn and tried to entertain us but i think that at the end was obvious that 4,5 hrs are more than enough.
they could squeeze the schedule a little bit and still offer a decent tour. i like the first pizzeria, grimaldi's, but the other one wasn't sth special. the most important aspect was those little details of brooklyn's history that Paula shared with us rather than the pizza.
i think that it didn't worth the money and certainly the time could be less as the actual tour needed 2,5-3hrs max.
still, i'd recommend it as an experience but i'd ask for a better deal. times are difficult and those guys have huge margins. |

This tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip, and we saw Broadway shows, plays and went to the Met, so that's really saying something. It was great to discover a side of NY we never had before and to go to places we never would have been, otherwise. The pizzas were EXCELLENT, specially L&B's and our fabulous tour guide *Paula* was very attentive, knowledgeable, witty and caring of all our needs. Thank you Slice of Brooklyn, we had a WONDERFUL time.
Much love from Puerto Rico...

We did the Slice of Pizza Tour in November and absolutely loved it. Paula, our guide was absolutely fantastic! The bus was comfortable, the video footage was great and the local tales added colour.... and then there was the pizza.... We will be back! |

The Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour was a lot of fun for my family, our friends, and me. We were so excited to be part of this experience since we tried to get into Grimaldi's on another NYC/Brooklyn trip in mid-September and were unable to make it in to try their famous pizza. Both pizza stops were amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 different types of pizzas and wish I had some with me right now to enjoy! The bus was very comfortable (and warm sicne it was freezing outside), the driver was great, and our tour guide, Paula, was FUNtastic! The tour was so well planned and thought out that the actual video was synchronized to go with the verbal details Paula shared as we were driving through various neighborhoods. We loved it so much that we may consider one of the other tours that are offered. We love Brooklyn! |

Hi! Paula was our tour guide and we had an amazing time. We attended the 11 a.m. tour on Monday November 10th. Let me just say that was the most amazing tour we have ever been to. We have traveled from Daytona Beach, Florida three times now to visit New York City and by far this was the best trip we have taken thus far and it was completely due to the wonderful pizza tour we went on to Brooklyn.
The food was delicious, the bus was very comfortable with just the right amount of people and more importantly even my 13 and 15 year old boys had a blast and you know how hard it is to please teenage boys. Paula really made the tour, she was very knowledgable and so pleasant to talk to. She made it a point to walk around to each person and make sure they were having fun and we really did. Thank you for making this a "trip of a lifetime" which is exactly what it was. We would definetely recommend this to anyone at anytime, a true "must see"!!
With warm regards and much thanks for a tour well worth the money,

The tour is an excellent introduction to Brooklyn. It was very well organized and informative. We traveled on a very comfortable bus. Our guide Paula was very friendly and knowledgeable. Just the right amount of interesting facts about Brooklyn. And pizza at both places was tasty and quite different. |

Our group wanted to see Brooklyn - each person for various reasons. Our ages ranged from 35 to 83 consisting of one native, one local, one wannabe, and two that had never been. Instead of hiring or renting a car, trying to find parking (good luck), taking a cab or the subway, we opted for this tour - the BEST decision! Not only was the 'za great (both locations) but we got an "insider's" take on Brooklyn. Paula was an attentive, interesting and entertaining guide. Initially, we were disappointed that Tony was not our guide that day - but Paula came through with flying colors! We were rewarded with a taste of Brooklyn's neighborhoods and the tour was spiced up with film clips played on multiple screens as we were at each movie's shooting location. After five days in New York we all agreed that this one one of the highlights of our visit. If you aren't sure this is the way to see Brooklyn, whether for the first time or not, book the tour - you won't regret it! The photo Paula took of our group with the Brooklyn Bridge behind us ending up being one of our best pictures! Thanks Tony & Paula! |

The Slice of Brooklyn tour was awesome!!!! Tony was great and as knowledgeable as any tour book around! It was great to see a side of Brooklyn you would never probably explore on your own. And does there really need to be an explination for the pizza?? It was amazing! The tour was well planned out and relaxing, the accomodations were perfect and the pizza and Tony made the whole trip! Highly recommended! |

We visit NYC once a year and have done all the tourist activities. We always look for something unique to experience. The Brooklyn Pizza Tour is the best thing we have done. The chance to expand beyond Manhattan and learn about Brooklyn was fun and interesting. The pizza is scrumptous! Trying two different styles of pizza was wonderful. I wondered if we would just get a sample or if we would really get some pizza. We got plenty of pizza--I was full and enjoyed every bite. The tour was informative and interesting. Our guide, Paula, was fun, personable, knowledgeable, witty, and enthusiastic about the pizza and Brooklyn. The nice bus and the use of video clips and music was better than I expected. This is a great thing to do!!! |

Tony was unavailable for our tour, so we were shown around Brooklyn by his younger cousin. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about both Brooklyn and pizza.
After a brief stop beneath Brooklyn Bridge, we headed to the first pizza place, Grimaldi's, walking straight past the huge queue. My expectations were high and, ultimately, I was disappointed with the pizza. Yes, it had a nice, thin, crispy base and the sauce and cheese (no toppings... on a $75 tour?) was adequate, but I had better from a place just outside my apartment (Waldy's on 6th Ave, just above 27th St).
We then toured various movie locations, including the Goodfellas garage where Joe Pesci's character got whacked. This was fairly interesting, however the guide did have a propensity for telling us how much the houses cost on just about every street we drove down, which quickly became irritating - there's enough of that on the news, without getting it on holiday too.
The second place for pizza was L&B Spumoni Gardens, which served thick-based Sicilian pizza, with very sweet sauce. I preferred this to Grimaldi's, despite not particularly being a fan of thick pizza. Again though, there were no toppings, and it wasn't the pizza pinnacle I'd been anticipating.
In summary, it was OK but not worth $75. |
