Activity Description
Join us for a one-time special benefit concert on May 22, 2009 featuring the Gramercy Trio -- proceeds go towards the Suzuki division!
The Gramercy Trio features pianist Randall Hodgkinson, violinist Sharan Leventhal, and cellist Jonathan Miller. These critically acclaimed artists view chamber music as an ongoing heritage and bring a sense of adventure to music of the past while also bringing a sense of history to the music of our time!
The concert will be around 90 minutes long without intermission. The group will present a richly varied program including a late trio (Hob. XV: 30) in E-flat Major of Joseph Haydn, Shostakovich’s dramatic Trio No. 2 in E Minor, and a more recent (2008) addition to the genre by British composer Simon Bainbridge.
The Suzuki method is named after the world-renowned Japanese violinist and pedagogue, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who developed a new philosophy of music education more than sixty years ago. Also known as The Talent Education Method, this theory states that every child can be well educated and no child should be turned away only because they fall behind at the beginning.
The Suzuki division provides students with full year Suzuki violin, viola, cello, piano and guitar study, and features summer workshops complete with semi-private lessons, group instrumental and theory classes, and choruses. Parental participation is key to the success of the child in this approach! Help support our Suzuki division by buying tickets today.

There will be a special meet the artist reception after the performance featuring refreshments (tickets to the performance and the reception are $100 each).
