Wonderful concert by the master musician Taj Mahal with the reunion of his 4 tuba band that made musical history back in 1971. It was a joyous memorable affair. The concert was very well-run, good sound system and a beautiful auditorium. |

Taj Mahal and Howard Johnson's tuba band reunite 37 years later after performing the live LP recording of the Real Thing. I've seen many concerts and reunions in my life but this was the one you could truly label as THE REAL THING.

It is not often that one has the opportunity to attend a performance of a Master Musician and consummate performer of the caliber of Taj Mahal. He spanned the entire breadth of his musical interest starting with a series of wonderful solos many blues (my personal favorites) with acoustic guitar, banjo and harmonica accompanying his special voice. He clearly enjoys performing and he treated us to some fine and intricate guitar riffs. He then brought out a “big” band made up of musicians it seemed, he has played with in the past. They must have since it all seemed effortless. There were four horns two electric guitars, keyboard, drums and a percussionist. We were then treated to a fine sampling of his eclectic musical interest, including Blues, Zideco, Jazz, Reggie, gospel and … all presented with an unassuming flow and energy he so gracefully exudes. Taj and his band clearly enjoyed playing and the audience clearly enjoyed listening, and participating. If you get a chance to see a Master like Taj Mahal, don’t miss it. |

The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music had the good fortune of being graced with Taj Mahal Saturday night and a who's who of musicians that accompanied him. From Blues to reggae to comedy... the performance had it all! Taj is a world class act. |

Great venue for the Conservatory to show its stuff. Taj was fabulous, and the back up guys (and gal) were terrific. Thank you Taj. Thank you Earl (whom I assume put the show together.) |
