Extended Memphis Mojo Tour

I took the Extended MoJo tour with Backbeat Tours and it was by far the best tour I have been on. Everyone that I met associated with the tour was friendly and courteous. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe our talented tour guide, Memphis Jones. He was so enthusiastic and passionate about everything he was sharing with us that it was impossible not to be excited and entertained. His tour wasn't just the scripted "if you look to your left...blah, blah, blah" he gave you a lot of local details and stories which gave the tour a real personable feel to it. It was good company, good music, and a fabulous city, what's not to love? If you are looking for a good time this tour is a MUST!

I'm an Elvis fan and have been several times in Memphis. Of course I have visited Graceland and have enjoyed the Sun studios. However, I have never visited the places in Memphis where Elvis lived and where his career started. A tour is not one of my favorite activities but I participated in a tour with Backbeat Tours. Now I can say that this trip was the highlight of my visit in August 2011. The warming up in the bus was fantastic and from the beginning I was in a good mood. I never thought to play in a bus with a tambourine and a egg shaker singing along with songs from the past. The tour was a mix of facts, musical highlights (the guide was a wonderful singer!) and entertainment. In short: a great happening that gives me again some extra memories of Elvis and Memphis!!!!!!!

The tour guide made the experience memorable. His guitar playing and knowledge was commendable. He had a friendly manner and we truly had value for money. Would recommend this tour highly.

I would recommend this tour only if you are extremely interested in learning about the progression of music in Memphis. If you are just interested in seeing the landmarks and hearing brief history I would perhaps skip this tour. However having the experience to hear all the live music from the guide on tour was memorable.

We enjoyed the bus tour and the tour of Sun Studio. The interesting and detailed information provided gave us a clear understanding of the people of Memphis and Beale Street.

We had the extended tour with Brandon Cunning as our tour guide. He was great and really made the tour with both his music and his humor--very entertaining yet knowledgeable. Even though it was a very hot day, it seemed the whole group that day was pleased with the tour; at least I heard no complaints. The only negative feedback I would have, but it was my fault for not asking, I thought the tour would stop and let you leave the bus and take pictures at some places like the Lorraine Motel and Stax records rather than mostly just a drive-by. This tour is highly recommended (and ask for Brandon!!)

The extended tour is awesome! This is a great way to see and learn about Memphis. Our tour guide was so much fun and a really good musician! We also enjoyed the tour of Sun Studio. Overall, we are so glad we chose the extended tour and would definitely do it again!

Gary was the most amazing tour guide. Great musician and storyteller. I learned things you would never find in any book. My kids loved the musical instruments, the singing, and the cool old bus.
