Extended Memphis Mojo Tour

My husband and I went on this tour on Friday, Oct. 16. I enjoyed it very much and so did my husband...at least after he finished complaining that there was no place to sit while we were waiting for the tour to begin. We took the Stax Museum tour and thought it was very interesting. We had an hour for the museum and still could have used more time there. The tour guide was excellent, held our attention and seemed to know what he was talking about. He was a good singer also. This tour also showed us some of Memphis that we otherwise wouldn't have seen. The only complaint that I have is that I wish the tour had been longer, would have liked to have seen more of the city. And I definitely wish there had been more time for the guide to sing. I didn't get to hear enough of his music. A much longer tour (with time for a lunch in a bar-b-que restaurant too) would have been just perfect.

We had a really great time ! This was mainly due to the enthusiastic help of our tour guide Memphis Jones who really made the place come alive with his in depth knowledge, humour and great singing and guitar playing. The side trip to Soulsville USA was brilliant, the only problem is we could have done with more time to absorb the history of the place. Thanks Backbeat and especially thanks to Mr Jones.

Informative, entertaining, family friendly, (although a tad costly)

Highly recommend this entertaining and educational tour. My wife has no interest in real music, particularly the Blues, but even she found this tour interesting and enjoyable. The tour guide/guitarist (sorry I cant remember her name) was excellent, interspersing interesting stories and anecdotes with good interpretations of classic songs. Definitely a must for visitors to Memphis and make sure you include a visit to Sun on the tour.

This tour was a great way to experience the Memphis music scene and its history.It was relaxing and fun. Our guide was great.

IWe would have enjoyed it a lot more if we were able to get off and explore instead of listening to stories and some music .

Camera opportunities were poor ie out of the bus window , with glass flashback .one photo stop outside of the bus was a fluke by virtue of a customer wanting the toilet !! .The young gentleman singing was more preoccupied with his singing on beale street ie catch me here and tip me .My father needed a toilet stop and my friend who stayed behind was told why he had to go right at that moment , has he could have waited till the sun studio .well pardon my father for having a prostrate problem , he did well to hold on has he did , and nothing was said for the previous stop when the guide also alighted the bus .Had i known their would be no photo stops outside of the bus i would have not booked .The poor excuse of time proferred by the guide was poor , in liverpool the magical mystery beatles tours are time constrained but their is an outside photo shot at every relevant stop .you could do well to learn from the way they are operated.

Brandon our guide was fantastic ! Talented musician as well as informative. Fun and interactive. Brandon kept us all entertained and engaged.We learnt a lot of history from this tour and I would highly recommend this tour to all who are visiting Memphis.
