did not expect an episode of 'ghost hunters', but thought we would do more than stand outside of buildings and tell stories.

Interesting stories, but not the best

While I did enjoy listening to the ghostly stories, it was not one of the best ghost tours I have been on. I frequently travel, and in each new destination I attend a walking ghost tour, so I have many to compare to. While the stories were interesting, the presentation could have improved. Rather than listen to documented cases, my husband and I felt as if we were listening to schoolgirl gossip about what may or may not have happened. So while I would recommend the tour for the stories, I would not for the presentation. However, different tour guides have different personalities, so I cannot discredit this tour based on one experience.

Totally Awesome

I love ghost tours and have been wanting to do the one in my own town. It was more than I could have hoped for. I love the history behind the claims. We had one really creepy thing happen. The guide had just told the story of Mary, the little girl who haunts The Orpheum. When she was finished a horse carriage came down the street and the driver's dog threw his head back and howled the entire way past The Orpheum! It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

We didn't know what to expect when we registered for the tour but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We found the history as interesting as the ghosts. Thank you.....

Interesting but more stories/history needed

Our guide was very enthusiastic and seemed to enjoy the city which was appreciated. The tour would have been better with more history of the area included. An extra stop or 2 would have been well received also. I have been on many ghost tours in the past and I enjoy them very much but the ones I like best are the ones heavy on history and ghost stories and stops.

Very enjoyable tour. Guide was very informative. She was able to explain the tour very well, and knew much about the history or Memphis.

Fun for an informative walk, but lacking depth

I enjoyed the Memphis Ghost Tour for the walk downtown, and especially because of our tour guide, Jake. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and really exhibited a fondness for the culture and people of downtown Memphis. But the ghost stories were undeveloped historical anecdotes, and the entire tour took place on the streets. I was really looking forward to stepping foot in a building or two, getting a first-hand look and feel for a story. Didn't happen. What I learned in the tour I could have learned from a library book.

I really enjoyed the woman that took us on it. She was very good at storytelling. The tour was fine but would be better if you could enter some of the buildings. Especially the apt where the DJ was killed. I would think they would allow it since it is just a model. Might be worth checking into if you haven't already.

Not Very Good

I have been on several ghost tours of different cities, and I have to say that this one was probably the worst. The guide was very friendly, but honestly, did not provide us with much. She told a couple of short stories, but wasn't able to really verify much of anything. She brought us by a couple of places, and although I expected that we probably wouldn't be going in anywhere, there were several places she would talk very briefly about and we would be on our way before we could even stop to take a look. There was one area that we stopped and she talked about many orbs being found. Now we know that most orbs are dust or bugs. The guide also talked about being terrified of ghosts and the only reason she was giving us the tour was because she knew she would have people with her. She talked a lot about herself, her husband, how she was an actress, etc. It actually got to the point that it was boring. The last place we went, the upstairs of a bar, she told us we should all buy a beer so the owner would possibly let us look upstairs. We did buy some beers, and were granted the opportunity to look upstairs, which was nice. Nothing there of course, but I didn't expect something to jump out at me. Oh yes, and at one point in the tour the guide brought us to an old train station. We all stood on the sidewalk as she told us the story of a dead janitor that whistles. She then told everyone to put the ears against the door to listen. What? Standing on the street, putting our ears against a door to see if we can hear a whistling ghost? Seemed very silly to me. We ended, not at where we began, but somewhere that us out-of-towners had no idea where we were. I found this odd, as most tours I've been on end where we began so we don't have to pay money for a bus/taxi/trolley, etc. We could have walked, but it was quite a ways away from where we started. So, she pointed us to the right trolley and we left. It was a bit entertaining at times, but mostly boring. I would skip this and save your ghost tour experience for the next time you're in Chicago.
