Memphis Mojo Tour: the Best of Memphis

I took this tour with my mom and sister on our recent trip to Memphis. The tour was by far the best part of our trip. The tickets were easy to book (we booked online) and the meet-up location was simple to find. Upon arriving we were immediatly greeted and told when the bus would pick us up-Great customer service. We had just enough time to grab an frozen 'adult' beverage before boarding. Once on the bus we met the band and were given instruments to play along with. Our tour guide was awesome! He made the tour fun for everyone on the bus and even let me have a bongo solo! I definately recommend this tour, so grab your bongos and a "Call a Cab" and get on the bus!

It was a fun way to see the highlights without getting on/off the bus. Entertainer was informative and music a good background. Felt a bit too many details on the black individuals in Memphis who were friendfs with our entertainer. Would recommend though and am considering a group in Spring 2013.

The 20 year olds in our group enjoyed this tour just as much as the 60 year olds.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our Mojo tour (which included the Sun Studio tour). In addition to seeing many of the sites of the city, our tour guide ("Memphis Jones") did a great job of getting our small tour group involved in the music and was extremely entertaining, both in terms of his stories and his musical performances. We highly recommend taking one of the Mojo tours.

music, history and funny things about memphis. reccomended

I was visiting family in Memphis and looking for a tour to show my wife and son more about Memphis' history. A friend had recommended Backbeat Tours some years ago, and this was an opportunity to try it out. The tour was perfect, and I was even surprised how much I learned even after growing up in Memphis. Our tour guide, Dylan, did a tremendous job, getting the whole bus into the mood with funny stories and foot-stomping music. I will recommend the tour to anyone else going to Memphis.

As two British tourists in Memphis we were unsure as to where to begin. We took a look on Tripadvisor and saw that this tour had been recommended highly. And so it should have been. We toured the downtown area of Memphis in a 1950's style bus, with live music accompaniying the historic sites we visited. Amongst them were Elvis' first home, Sun Studios, the site of Martin Luther King Jr's assasination and the shell music arena. In all honesty the tour would have only been ok if it had not been for Memphis Jones, our tour guide. His extensive knowledge of the musical history of Memphis, musical talents and infectious enthusiasm for it all made the 90 minute tour just fantastic. We spent the whole time laughing, singing and shaking our shakers in time to his guitar. I'm only sorry the tour had to end and a further location to enjoy Memphis Jones' humour and music wasn't available. If you want to have a lot of fun while touring Memphis, this is the way to do it.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Memphis. We had a great time but also learned so many interesting facts. The music was wonderful and we had fun singing along. Also met some very nice people. We are already planning to take this tour again on our next trip to Memphis. Don't change a thing.

Memphis Jones was our tour guide and was a true fountain of information about Memphis. In his delivery of facts, you could tell he loves his city and it's musical history. He is also a really good entertainer with his singing and guitar playing. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and our guide. We also found that taking the individual tours after this one helped us more easily absorb all information given on those tours. Our tour day was a great day in Memphis!

Our family had a GREAT time on this tour. Our guide was awesome, we would recommend this tour to anyone with a couple hours to spare.
