Memphis Mojo Tour: the Best of Memphis

I was recommended by the concierge at the Westin on Beale Street. I had a great time...laughed, sung, and learned tons of information. Memphis Jones was awesome...I didn't want to get off! So much fun....I would recommend to anyone of any age.

This tour helped fill in the information-gaps about Memphis that we are glad we now know. We were on a 1 1/2 day whirlwind tour of the city, in a town that just can't be see in that short of a time. Mojo was a fun way to educate ourselves on Memphis. School should be this much fun!

Tour guide was fun and knew what he was talking about and knew how to have fun. Just a great time.

ME AN MY BRO HAD A FANTASTIC TOUR ON THE BUS!!! THE TOUR GUIDE WHO'S NAME EVADES ME CHUBBY GUY WITH GLASSES! WAS SO INTO WOT HE WAS DOIN HE REALY LUVED HIS WORK AN IT SHOWED. GREAT AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION EVERY 1 WAS MADE 2 FEEL IMPORTANT. AND LET LOOSE AN ENJOY THE TOUR, I WAS JUST SPUIN I DIDENT BRING ANY BOOZE WITH ME BUT I WILL ON MY NEXT TOUR!!! I WILL BE BACK IN APRIL 2011 TO HOPEFULLY DO IT AGAIN CANT PRAISE IT ENUFF!! I FELT IT HAD EVERYTHING ABOUT MEMPHIS INC IN IT!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND DONT FORGET ELVIS IS THE KING!!! Gary Hardy was funny & had great stories of his personal and the cities music history. Great raport between him & the tour guide. Would recommend actual stops to be able to spend some time at the historic sites.

There is so much to see and do in Memphis, but a must is the Backbeat Tour, I cannot recommend it highly enough, our guide for the Tour Memphis Jones was supberb, and highly entertaining

This was our second time on the tour (and maybe the last one). The first time, we had a great time with Memphis Jones as our guide. I am originally from another country and the first time we went on the tour, I took my mom on the tour who does not speak English at all. Based on the reviews, I decided that there would be a lot of music, and I would be able to translate the rest. And this was exactly what happened. Memphis Jones is very talented, and we REALLY ENJOYED the tour. Last Saturday, we had visitors from Israel. The first thing that came to our mind was to go to Memphis and take the Mojo tour. However, this time we had a different experience because we had a different guide. The tour was Ok, and he sang nicely not a lot though. We heard a buch of names and it was difficult to imagine what the music was like. Sometimes the examples were provided (this made a whole a lot of difference). Overall, it was boring for our guests. It might be very interesting for people who are experts of musical history of those times. I understood that the guide's whole career was in music in Memphis, which is nice. However, I think that he went a bit overboard with self-promotion. I am not sure if I am ever going on this tour myself again. If I am sure that Memphis Jones is going to be my guide, I might still take my international visitors on a tour.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Having just moved to Northwestern Mississippi we are of course trying to find our way around the area. Memphis is great and Beale street is fantastic, but, until you have experienced the Backbeat MoJo Tour you haven't seen anything yet. We had an awesome guide... Memphis Jones.... I will be bringing everyone who comes to visit our family on this tour. Ninety minutes wasn't enough, we could have stayed on that bus all day.

There was a lot of interesting information about the music history of the area, and of course Memphis has a ton of history! Our guide was resourceful when his guitar amp. hook-up broke, and quickly got things back in order. Our guide entertained us with many songs along the way. Driving around Memphis, you get a feeling for how economically depressed the area is. Only drawback was that it was a 90+ degree day, and the bus was very hot with minimally effective AC. Nice intro to the city--I would suggest doing this on the first day of a first visit as a starting point to see what you might like to investigate in greater detail later.

My husband and I truly enjoyed this tour. It was fun, entertaining, and full of great information and music. The guide was outstanding...top notch. He was very knowledgeable and made sure to include others into the conversation. The 90 minute tour flies by and it puts you into a great Memphis mood. I would highly recommend this tour.
