We really enjoyed this tour. It was fun and entertaining. We drove by several landmarks and they were pointed out and a story was told and sometimes a song. We stopped briefly at Sun Studios for a quick break. It was a great way to see the city. |

This tour was awesome, entertaining, and informative! Memphis Joe was our tour guide on the Memphis Mojo Tour and I highly recommend this tour! He plays the guitar and sings, and tells the stories of rock 'n roll legends. My daughter and I loved it! You've got to take this tour. You will not regret it!
We also took the Walking Ghost Tour! Loved it too! Our guide was very entertaining and informative as well. |

The tour turned out way different than I expected. I thought we would be carted to Sun studio, STAX studio and some other places where we would take each of those paid tours.
Instead, Memphis Jones gave sang some of the songs that were milestones of the Memphis contribution to rock and R&B. And he told us and showed us where those songs fit in.
It was entertaining, insightful and just plain fun.
A year or so ago, I bought a Rhino collection just to get "Rocket 88". It cost more than the Mojo tour, and all I got was the song. Our tour guide let us know why the song was important.
Being "damn Yankees", the bus was too hot for our taste. But we certainly did love the tour. |

My family of four (2 teenagers) along with two grandmothers took this terrific tour after enjoying lunch at Blues City Cafe. The pickup spot located directly outside Blues City was PERFECT! The age gap rom my oldest family member to youngest was 67 years yet everyone (from oldest to youngest) had the time of their lives.
We have lived in the area for 10 years and this tour is one of the best kept secrets in town! Entertaining, educational and packed with civic pride!
I will be back with clients and friends on this tour and can't wait to try the others offered by BackBeat.
Thank you Memphis Jones! |

Our musical guide was lots of fun and we all enthusiastically played along with our tambourines and maracas. The only drawback is that (as advertised) this is a MUSIC tour. Most of the sights he pointed out and explained were related to Memphis music. For instance, we drove right past a major art museum without a word in order to visit the historic stage behind it. If you want historic/cultural/architectural info on the city, take a more standard 'city tour.' If you want lots of fun and musical memories - this is the one for you! |

After reading reviews on this tour and seeing all the comments about a tour guide named Memphis we were a little disappointed when we got a tour guide named Jake. The disappointment lasted about 2 seconds!! He was funny, talented and full of information and the history of Memphis. We've been on tours in other cities before and we've NEVER had a tour that was this entertaining AND educational. Thank You Jake for making it a great tour!! |

We were in Memphis for three days, the tour was on our second day. The whole mini-vacation was great, but the Mojo Tour was the highlight of the vacation. My wife was very sceptical about going on the tour, but I convinced her it would be good. After the tour she was extremely pleased with the tour and for once said I was right (husbands you know that doesn't happen often.) Our 18 year old son and 12 year old daughter really enjoyed the trip also. Gary Hardy was our tour guide and let me tell you, I don't know the last time I was so entertained learning about a place, He is very knowledgable of past and present history of the city, and you could tell he has a deep pride for the entire area. He knows alot of little back stories that you would only hear from someone who has basically done and seen it all. It was our second vacation to Memphis from the Quad Cities Illinois, but was by far a better trip than the first time because of the tour. It was better because the first time we basically wandered around and took the words of our hotel clerks and other area employees for things to do and see. They were great but "unseasoned" like the staff of the tour. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! |
